Yeah, facts show that Sony’s console is getting its ass kicked in a country where home consoles are not relevant anymore.

I think Sony will eventually lose anime games to the Switch. The Vita is all but dead and it would only make sense for anime game devs to move to Switch since it will have larger Japanese install base.

Do you think those Japanese exclusives are there because Sony is doing so well in Japan? Or is it because Sony has a massive installbase outside of Japan? I meant - are those games targeting the 5M owners in Japan or the 60M+ outside of Japan? Also, are there a lot of Japanese exclusives? |
Project Octopath Traveller
Travis Strikes Back: No More Heroes
Shin Megami Tensei V
This is just the beginning.

Like I said, we are beyond reasoning at this point. This is what they call a reality distortion zone.

I really don't understand why you let him take the discussion so far off-topic that we're now talking about some random Australian Switch deal in the Japan sales thread.
Not only that but you've also given him the pleasure of being right about something for once. The Switch is (or was) indeed $369 before adding the Amex deal. Then, after adding Super Mario Odyssey and using the $100 discount the total ended up being $336. Sure, it's a discount from a specific store and for a specific Switch colour (judging from the comments) and involved pricematching but something tells me that those are just minor details of little to no significance.

Thinking more fully, I think Switch will be the goto system for games that would have been on the Vita otherwise. Think of how Valkyria Chronicles went from console to portable to both to now only console. That represents the change of business plans for Sony quite well. Nintendo can definitely fill that gap now.
The Switch completely obliterated the others ![]()
Mario Odyssey is slaying so much and Zelda returned to the top 10.

Are you sure that 2017. will be biggest year for PS since PS2 days!?
Currently difference between PS4 2017. and PS4 2016. sales is only around 150k, last few weeks 2017. sales are lower compared to 2016. sales, it will be interesting to see if PS4 will be YOY at all at end of December beacuse for next 2 weeks PS4 last year sold 210k.
And definitely seems that Switch sales start cannibalizing PS4 sales in Japan, because PS4 start selling worse compared to last year on weekly basis.

Switch isnt only the successor to 3DS & Wii U but its essentially the Vita successor as well since Sony is out of the portable business and Switch fills the role of high end portable that Sony portables used to fill.
This gives it a nice home for indies, Japanese & kid/family titles. The only real question mark has been if there is a market for AAA western 3rd party titles on it.

Now that I am home, I can comment more on the charts. I wonder how much longer before Zelda reaches 1 million in total Wii U and Switch. It will be so awesome when that happens, since I always want Zelda to be top tier in Japan as well.
