I see no reason why a new IP by Monolith couldn't be on par with the Xenoblade games in quality. The original Xenoblade was itself a new IP.

Again, it depends on what the motivation behind creating the new IP is. Does Monolith Soft have a vision in their creation of it, or is the game being made merely "for the sake of diversity." The first motivation will likely end up with a good game, the latter won't.

I never said a new IP couldn't be on par with Xenoblade, just that you need to have the proper motivation as a developer. Creating a game for "the sake of diversity" seems silly to me.

I'm not say they should make it for the sake of diversity, I'm saying I want it for the sake of diversity.

Xenoblade games are big so it's not too surprising

What matters is that there is polish during the time

Honestly, I hope their next game is not a Xenoblade game.
I enjoy them, but I'd like to see them try their hand at something a bit different, for the sake of diversity.

I still hope for a port of XCX for the Switch.

Much rather have a port of the original game. That one would look spectacular on the Switch.

Also, a bit surprised some thought they started development just after they released XCX?

Unless it comes via virtual console, the original wouls have to be a major remaster.  Far too many wrinkles caused by the Wii's limitations.

Yeah a full remaster would be a must.

Monolith wouldn't neccessarily have to handle a Xenoblade remaster though. Nintendo could hand it to one of their younger, more inexperienced studios, or a porting specialist like Tantalus.

This makes sense. Given they were advertising earlier this year, and given XBC2 was undergoing localisation and sound recording etc earlier on this year, it's safe to assume at some point in the last 12 months Monolith Soft have started their next major project.

It doesn't necessarily guarantee a 2019 release from them, but I think another Monolith Soft game by the end of 2020 is a safer bet. If it's a new project that deviates from what they've done with the Xenoblade games, it might take longer to get it together - plus at least some of their staff are on DLC duty for XBC2.

Definately, wouldnt want the mainteam at Monolith putting their precious time on a remastered port.
