Forums - Sony Discussion - PS4 Beat Previous Black Friday Weeks Except 2013 (UK)

Black Friday has been quite heavily pushed in the UK over the last few years. Some retailers are still pretty sceptical (they feel it's just concentrating sales rather than creating a worthwhile number of new ones), but it does exist and it does result in a significant week on week rise of console sales.

You'd be right to say that the brunt of attention should be on the US, but the UK and the like have increased in BF relevance.

Oh I agree that Black Friday is a worldwide thing now but when "success" of black Friday was discussed on this forum and other like it, the US was the main topic just like when npds are discussed. Not taking away from the other countries which have now decided to jump on a US celebration.

Look at OP and it's specifically talking about UK, so no need to say BF is an USA thing or that in VGC we only discuss USA BF.

I fail to see how he can even post that considering the thread he's in. I think Black Friday has been a thing in the UK for nearly three years now, and isn't it also in Germany now? I seem to recall at least one other European country having Black Friday. How the hell does he think the consoles got a huge boost? Coincidence?

Black Friday is a thing in Norway, as well as all the other Scandinavian countries (99% sure)

Yup. It has definitely become a thing here in Denmark as well. In Sweden too. Probably in most European countries to some extent.

Today PS4 Pro is £260 across the UK and being heavily promoted by stores and online 'Hotdeal' sites.

That's almost £200 cheaper than the One X. Sony are super aggressive on price and moving the UK towards the PS2 days in terms of marketshare.

Amazon has sold out of the £260 PS4 Pro's in UK, only third party sellers have stock now. Don't know anyone else that's doing the deal, or if they still have stock. But yeah crazy price when you compare it to XB1X currently. £260 for Pro, £450 for XB1X. It's not far off half the price. xD

that is targeting to kill momentum for X1X

Not really. Sony is pricing the pro at the correct price for what it offers in comparison to the X. I believe the pro should be 249 with a game thrown in (maybe GT Sport).

Yes sure... because PS4Pro is really competing with X1s right? Because the X1X is so much ahead of Pro that it can't compete.

Considering that the percentage difference between PS4 Pro and XB1X is similar to the percentage difference between PS4 and XB1, I wonder why you've never said that XB1 should cost half as much as the PS4.

At launch XB1X cost $499 and is 42.86% stronger than the PS4 Pro (according to you PS4 Pro should cost $249 and include a game)
At launch PS4 cost $399 and is 41.54% stronger than the XB1 (with your logic XB1 should've launched at $199 and include a game)

PS4: 1840 gigaflops
Xbox One: 1300 gigaflops
(41.54% difference)

PS4 Pro: 4.2 teraflops
Xbox One X: 6 teraflops
(42.86% difference)

lmao, you're outdoing yourself with posts like this. Yes Pro is only worth £260 while X is worth £450. nice.

You are looking it the wrong way...

Since X1 debuted at 499, it was 25% stronger than PS4.
