I think people have been saying that they are saving stock for instore promotions rather than online, so it might be out of stock online?

It's out of stock online at Amazon, Walmart, Bestbuy, and Gamestop, but you can still pick it up in select stores.

We shouldn't be surprised; it was a 33% pricecut.

When was the current model released? revision coming?

I think they've filled the market with so much I would doubt running out of stock is going to damage them too much. If they want to, sure they'll get more stock in by the weekend.

The Battlefront II bundles (PS4 and PS4P) are still available, but for much more.

All base models are sold out on Amazon, so the stores might follow suit.

But Black Friday is all about going shopping in store anyway, and stores *want* you to go in store its common retail practice. Because you might end up buying more (its all about upselling). So online being sold out to me means what they want it to mean, which is, they want you to go in store.

I don't have concerns about Sony's stock levels at all, also someone wanting to buy a PS4 will not just go buy another console instead, yeah sure they'll be a few but we're talking low numbers here.

Consoles, especially very popular ones get much cheaper to produce with time, thanks to bulk deals with suppliers, design tweaks and steamlined production.

The standart ps4 they are selling now also isn't the model that they launched at $399 four years ago. It's the slim instead wich is a cheaper, less powerhungry steamlined version of the same components. Some premium stuff like the optical audio out is also missing from it.

Also, that $399 probably did leave some headroom for pricecuts, as the Ps4 recieved it's first pricecut relatively early for such a popular console.

OT: Danm. I expected the Ps4 to do well this BF and I also did think that the $199 would open up a new segment of the market, but somehow it never ceases to amaze me just how well the PS4 is doing.

do you really think it cost sony $300-$350 to make a 1TB PS4slim?

4yrs ago the $400 500GB 28nm based PS4 was profitable out the gate. costing Sony around $380 to make each one. in all that time there has been cost reductions in everything. Everything. it doesn't cost sony up to $200 making a PS4 slim right now. and probably hasn't since like March of this year. 

And the HDD, the funny thing about that is that it would cost sony more now putting in a 500GB HDD than it would cost them to put in a 1TB HDD. Economies of scale. 

Just get this, this is a stock issue. there are simply only so many consoles anyone can make. You can't just push a button and spit out 5M consoles in one month. so drop that notion of how many they want to sell at that price. do you have any idea how !uch money Sony instantly makes from the sale of every single console? you aren't just looking at the console. look at the extra controller. games. psN subscription. trust me, it's in every console manufacturers interests to sell as many consoles as possible. 

and now the way things are going it's suggesting that Nintendo isn't even able to provide a similar amount of stock like sony is sending out. even if it's also selling out of all it's provided stock. 

I said it to you before. it doesn't matter how much you can sell if you don't have the stock to show for it. 

Well, how can you argue that Sony can spit 5M console out of thin air when you believe that Nintendo should have 5M in stock plus shipping channels at the end of FY18?
