Forums - Nintendo - What will Pokemon Switch be?

It will be a mainline game, or there will be serious backlash

Their first Pokemon game for the Switch may be a spinoff, but a mainline game will definitely happen eventually

No thanks, I wouldn't want to suffer through any sort of micro-transactions in any of my games.

As for the 1st Pokemon Switch game, maybe a remake of Pokemon Red/Blue but with vastly improved 3D models, finally giving that console Pokemon feel, or like a remixed Pokemon game of some sort. Then eventually we'll get a home console looking gen 8 game.

Ageed.

Game Freak can only do so much in a year or two though, and the allure of infinite profits is surely tempting.

I do hope it is a complete, fulfilling experience.
If there are microtransactions, I would want them to add to the game.

This game has likely been development since before Sun and Moon at the latest, development for X and Y started before the release of gen 5, there has been plenty of time. Even the USUM is separate small side team that was just whipped together to enhance on the original sun and moon assets.

I really, really, really doubt there will micro transactions, DLC maybe would be nice. But I don't think they're turning Pokémon into games as a service and making it one game with infinite regions. The levels can only go to 100.

I'm not sure if they have developed the Switch game since Sun and Moon. The president of the Pokémon Company stated that he wasn't sure about the Switch's potential, thinking it would fail. Of course Game Freak is separate from the Pokémon Company in terms of game development, but they must be communicating constantly anyway due to their connection.

I seriously hope that we won't get Nintendo games with microtransactions on the Switch.

I hope that we'll just be getting a normal mainline game. Maybe with better graphics and slightly more open world, but no major changes. I'd rather have them fix some of the issues that the games have (low difficulty, too many of the same Pokémon, long cutscenes, get rid of the island challenges and bring back gyms...).

Does this series even need microtransactions to be profitable? The budget for each game is probably not that high at all, yet the series still does almost COD-like numbers. I’m thinking the sky’s the limit for what they could do on the Switch, considering all the power the thing has compared to everything else they’ve worked with.

I hope it's based on like Italy or the UK.

I think people underestimate how diverse one based on the US would be tbh.

Thats already a thing... Unova (NY) and Alola (HI) are based in the US

This is a horrible idea, btw. GF is a bit smarter than you give them credit for and have been prepping themselves cor HD already. The models used in Pokemon Go are borrowed polished models used from Sun/Moon. So, already we have half the series covered in terms of assets (probably more, easily). And there won't be the multi-region shit. And you wouldn't be micro tran$'d for it.

Pokken is the first Pokemon game on Switch.

The budget of a Pokemon game is almost non existent when compared to big titles.
Pokemon does not need microtransactions to be wildly profitable.

Yes they certainly don't need microtransactions to be profitable, not even close!

Though the budget will increase substantially jumping from 3ds development to Switch. Equally the workload will go up a lot. I hope gamefreak are ready for that or the development time between Pokemon Games may increase significantly. Though that wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing.
