Maybe I will repost hints for my other games as well and add some informations...

#39 : One of the best OST out there ! Too many characters and many people threatened of a one way trip the Earth's satellite.

It is a PS1 RPG.

#38 : Killing fishes with a purple flute to feed the princess.

Seriously, it is a magic flute that can attract objects from a distance. And the princess is super annoying up to that point in the game...

Pokémon Blue Version

  • Nintendo GameBoy
  • 1999
  • Role-playing Game
  • Game Freak

'Pokémon Blue Version' is a very special game for me in various ways. Not in the least part because it is just a very good game. It is also one of the few role playing games that I liked over the years, and technically, probably the only 'jRPG' ever, but I guess that depends on your definition of the genre.

The game was a phenomenon. People would say Call of Duty or Grand Theft Auto today, are big. But no, Pokémon, that was big. Everything lived and breathed Pokémon back in the day. This is the only game ever which I know was big with literally everyone, and everyone played it. Gamer or not, it was everywhere and on everything. The fact that the franchise is still big today, is testament to how big it once was. My friends played it as well, and we played and talked about it all the time. It was the talk of the playground day in, day out.

This game also ties into a strong memory about my late dog. When he was young, and I was young, I left my GameBoy Color laying around with Pokémon Blue inside and 'The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening' in a case in the sleeve. Being a dog with a tough character back then, he proceeded to try to eat said GameBoy. With GameBoy's famously being indestructible, it of course still worked, though the screen was replaced because it had a line of dead pixels. My Link's Awakening cartridge was completely shattered, because being in the sleeve pocket it was on the front line. Pokémon Blue however has a big hole where his tooth sank in, but still worked perfectly. It does to this day. That cartridge is now forever a tangible memory of that dog and a big piece of my childhood.

This entry in a franchise known for it's B-movie plots done in a good way, mostly takes place aboard an abandoned cruise ship.

Hint for #38

A series that is normally on portable systems finally got a good home console entry. Here's hoping we get two sequels next year.

Correct on 40. (64 DS, that is)

39 is not an indie game.

WipeOut? What's the last one uhmm... the Vita game, WipeOut 2048?

Nope.

That last number tho 🤔

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Pokémon Blue Version

Firstly, you say that's the only jrpg you've liked over the years, so you weren't a fan of later Pokemon games?

Secondly, you know Red > Blue... right?

I've never played another Pokémon game after that one.

And yeah, I remember back then I really wanted to have the Red version's exclusive Pokémon.

:O If you liked Blue so much why did you never play another one? Especially since (imo) gen 1 to gen 2 was the biggest improvement the Pokemon series has ever done! You need to try out Gold/Silver/Crystal, or even better their Heart Gold/Soul Silver remakes some time!

Well, I was at an age where you suddenly don't want to associate yourself with 'kiddie' stuff anymore, and I decided that, even though I liked the game a lot, "Pokémon is for kids". And I stopped playing, never bought the second gen games, and stopped watching the anime and gave away all my trading cards. All pretty much over night. I started watching Dragonball Z instead, because that's what all the 'mature' kids were doing. It sucked though, but I kept watching because that's what I was 'supposed' to be watching and everyone else had already moved on and did the same.

There was once a very small window where I actually cared what other kids thought of me, and when I was vulnerable to peer pressure. Though I was never really pressured or bullied into doing anything, you're just dumb at a certain age, and Pokémon was sadly a victim of that.

It's probably too late now, and I could never get into it again. It remains a fond memory though.

Game #40:

Hint 1: In this game you collect trash.

Hint 2: To the Moon!

Hint 3: The main protagonists in this game are brutal, funny, stupid, crazy. They cause chaos wherever they go, and that includes a lot of games besides this one, including other long running game series, in which they showed up. And yes, no single protagonist, a horde of them.

Hint 4: The humans are the antagonists in this game. They are overly controlled by rules, cleanliness, industrialization.

#40: Mario + Rabbids?

Nobody guessed my game, but TruckOSaurus was on the right path, it included the Rabbids. The game is Rabbids Go Home!

I do like the humour of the Rabbids. But the games they're in are usually not too deep. Minigames and fun little stuff. Rabbids Go Home was a bit different. It was the first Rabbids game that worked without Rayman and it actually had a story. An interesting story too. The Rabbids are living in a dump outside the city, but one day they look up to the moon and decide they want to go there. To achieve this they start collecting trash on the dump and put it in a pile, to climb on it and reach the moon. Naturally, that isn't high enough, so they decide to raid the city and collect trash. And that is so funny in a bizzare way, that I can't do different than to love this game.

This is not only because of the Rabbids, but the humans in the game contrasting the Rabbids in such a great way. The humans are controlled by order, cleanliness, punctuality. Basically everything the Rabbids are an antithesis of. And their society doesn't feel free. The Rabbids coming in are creating chaos and mayhem, turning the principles of the humans upside down. The humans start to fight back, with Verminators and guard dogs that add challenge to the game.

There are funny things inside the game, like the Rabbids screaming not only causes the humans to flee, they lose their clothes on the way (which can be collected and added to the trash-pile). Whyever they get stipped because of a scream.

So, please help these little fellas to reach the moon! (That actually doesn't work out as intended in the end, but you'll see if you play it).
