I'll probably do a short write-up of the games in my list in groups of three every few days. Then I'll put the hints for my next few at the end of the message. So let's get started with the first three games.

Super Mario 64

Starting off my list this year is Super Mario 64, a game I still genuinely enjoy whenever I play it. There are elements in it that haven't necessarily aged perfectly, like the camera, but on the whole it is still an excellent game. However, it could very well be that this is the last year Super Mario 64 finds its way into my top 50, as it already dropped several spots from last years list, and I have yet to play any new games released in 2017.

Tales of Symphonia

Tales of Symphonia was my personal introduction to the series, and I have many fond memories playing the game in co-op with a bunch of my friends. We did quite literally everything the game had to offer, got every cursed weapon, beat all the optional bosses, and more. Yet, it might follow the same fate as the Super Mario 64 next year, but who knows. I might replay the game at some point and like it even more than I do now. We'll see.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel II
The first newcomer to my top 50. I played through both the first and second game in this series this year, and I absolutely loved both of them, to the point that the trilogy's conclusion is one of my most anticipated games now. In fact, the entire Legend of Heroes series has quietly, and quite unexpectedly become one of my favourite video game series ever, and games like this are the reason why. The characters, story, gameplay, music and nearly everything else are all just excellent. Strongly recommended.
And now the hints for the next three games:
#47: The first game in the now two part series that got its second installment this year. It was also a sequel to a game with a completely different name. The man responsible for both often appears in public with a mask covering his head.
#46: An NES action platformer, often considered among the best in the series. Its developer has somewhat neglected the series in recent years.
#45: Building memories inside a dying man's mind.
