Bet with PeH:

I win if Arms sells over 700 000 units worldwide by the end of 2017.

Bet with WagnerPaiva:

I win if Emmanuel Macron wins the french presidential election May 7th 2017.

7 continents are taught and is technically correct. It's about land masses and tectonic plates.

Hmm, pie.

North America
South America
Eurasia
Africa
Australia
Antarctica
India
Pacific

I was taught there were seven continents and four oceans:

North America
South America
Africa
Europe
Asia
Antarctica
Australia

Indian
Arctic
Atlantic
Pacific

But yeah it is pretty arbitrary.

huh? You're the first to list India as a separate continent, how come?

It's on it's own continential plate

I was taught that the world has 6 continents, America considered as one, plus with this type of map.

It is funny that depending where you are the map might be centered differently:

Well considering Asia is always called "the east" it probably should be centred differently

I've seen that map being used in US highschools

I will say that, while I've always felt it makes perfect sense to have both a North and South America, I've never been entirely sure where Central America should fall lol

Generally it is taught that there are three countries in North America (Canada, USA, Mexico), but it always seemed to me that North America should include everything down to the western half of Panama.

7 is what I learned growing up. They did change from saying Australia to more inclusive Oceania at some point for the southern Pacific region.
