Forums - Nintendo - Mario Odyssey is an amazing game...but do not go for 100% [Spoilers]

It is worth it. You can be proud that you prevailed over everything the developers threw at you. You beat them at their own game.

I would agree with you on the 880 moons, but definitely not 999 moons; there's really no fun or challenge in coin grinding.

True, but it has to be done. At least once. I also bought all costumes as well, so I grinded quite alot. Found a great place to do it.

Slowly going towards 100%, some of the post-game objectives are hard af, but very rewarding.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I'm guessing they thought 880 was an awkward number so why not add more filler. Still gonna try to 100% it though.

Yep, I'm taking it slowly and combining it with some FE:Warriors sessions. There are some platforming levels which demand patience, and some moons which are cleverly hidden. But I'm having a blast in the post-game. I honestly don't care if Nintendo is going to give me a "reward" for doing 100%, I'm doing it just because of fun.

Except for a couple of moons I tried to get which were tiresome and probably unnecessary. I think people will know when they get there XD. But the rest of them are fine. It demands exploration (and I've never had to backtrack anything to get the local coins, so two birds with one shot xD) and platforming skills. I had some neat surprises in my journey which I didn't expect, so I'm still having fun with it.

a bit off-topic, but I have a quick question. Does the kingdom structure somewhat change or are new areas unlocked for postgame moons, or are the those postgame moons just put in existing areas of kingdoms youve already seen?

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Most of them are put in existing areas of kingdoms you've already seen. Most of them. There're some surprises along the way.

Sounds like similar to many Nintendo games. 100% is not not worth, but more like 98% or so. Trouble is, at that point you feel ao close you juat wanna finish.

I don't know why developers are so afraid these days to put the biggest reward after all the work. It SHOULD be a struggle and challenge and more rewarding to get to that end prize. If someone doesn't want to work to get the big reward, then don't give them the big reward. The simplicity of games these days is really saddening.

Nintendo games are never made for doing everything. They’re made to have a bunch of stuff to do so you have a lot of different ways to get from the beginning to the end of the game.

It’s kind of like Breath of the Wild.

Max upgrading a set of armour to max is fairly attainable, you can do it before finishing the game and still be having loads of fun.
Getting enough Shrines and Korok seeds is great.
Max upgrading ALL sets of armour... that’ll make you feel a little burnt out.
Getting ALL shrines will almost surely burn a person out, especially if they did that + maxing out all sets of armour.
Getting ALL Korok seeds will probably make a player hate the game, and never want to play it again.

I think if you finish the game in a reasonable way, then the second play through in hard mode (or easy again) is going to be FAR more appealing and satisfying. And multiple playthroughs is much more fun and satisfying than one really long over-playthrough.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Getting up to 880 isn't bad because I'm doing it as a casual thing where I can grab my Switch, get a couple moons and pick up later for other quick sessions.
I don't know about the coin grinding. Doesn't seem like I'll be doing that.
