We got some bad news, buiness article saying switch and x were some of the best sellers on BF with no mention of ps4, saw it on resetera. Seems running out of stock before BF was ps4's biggest weekness.

To play some Devil's advocate, the only reason why people were even shocked about PS4's performance on this site is because it's a site of ultra hardcore gamers who are interested in hardware sales. They expected Xbox and Switch to take the day because they're the "trendy" devices. Yet as soon as the PS4 did well, people automatically thought that Sony and "everyone" underestimated demand, and that the PS4 was doing gangbusters. That conclusion was jumped to mostly due to the fact that it was unexpected for PS4 to do so well in the first place.

In reality, PS4 being out of stock could just be a sign that Sony did, for the most part, understand the demand, and that the demand was met. Just because a console is out of stock doesn't necessarily mean it did  gangbusters, or that with stock it would sell way more than it already did. That can be the case, but it isn't always the case. I'm just suggesting that if the Xbox and Switch do end up selling more than the PS4, than the case could be that in an alternate universe where Sony keeps PS4 in stock this holiday, those consoles could have still outsold it. That's unlikely, but it will be especially true if the margin is greater than we thought(for example if the Xbox and Switch sold 300k more than PS4).

Personally, I'm conflicted, but other viewpoints are interesting. I don't know what to believe yet.

I think the stock leader will take the day.

That's a big nothing article.  The only retailer it quotes is Target, which had the best XBO deal.  And an analytics company that made their prediction before BF even started.

Edit:  And as Insidb said, it could still win the BF week large, while losing the actual day.

Haven't we been here before, one year they said Xbox was the best selling and was roundly beaten by Sony. The problem with a lot of the noise is that its selective noise and as thismeintiel has said, its a poor article with very much holes in.

Well, we at least know for certain it did gangbusters on Amazon. It stayed at #1 and #2 the whole time, and with just a few days worth of sales it past the X and is in the Top 50 for the year. Given what insiders have said about the crazy shipments they got from Sony, it's hard to imagine something similar didn't happen everywhere else.

Mario Odyssey sold 1.1 million in November alone according to Nintendo. But i still not understand if that was only US or NA, or America lol, can someone tell me if that was for US only?

Anyway, with all the legs Mario games have, i think 2 million are a given in 2017, maybe 2.5-3 million as well.

That seems like a strong underestimation: look at Wii sales figures for Mario; they are bananas.

I talk about only US and only 2017.

It may sell 7/8 million in 2017 worldwide and 15-20 million lifetime.

Yea. I can't remember what year it was, but XBO won the actual BF day, but Sony took either the weekend or the week.

Edit: Just looked. Lol, it was just last year that happened.

Which makes it more interesting because the console that sold the least leading up to Black Friday is likely to have the most 'old' stock from previous months. XB1 could steal it simply because of stock but I'm still sticking to:

PS4 > Switch > XB1

For fairness.

The PS5 Exists.

Old stock + already ramped up manufacturing = strongest supply chain.
