This might prompt a few of you to go hunting after copies of the game so you can venture through it early. However, there’s something you might want to keep in mind.

The game actually won’t work in your game system without downloading a patch. That’s right, even offline. It’s probably a countermeasure put in place by Activision to prevent certain spoilers from going out for it.

Now, there is a patch that’s live for the PlayStation 4 version of the game, and it clocks in around 9.45GB, if you managed to get your hands on a copy. However, there’s a catch – it can’t be played online. Not yet, anyway.

Is that a first? So far we've had plenty of games that would run like crap without the day one patch, but not working at all? Damn!

That's a very, very shitty move from Activision, that shows no respect for its potential consumers.

Now that I think about it, is it even legal to sell a product that doesn't work?

So the PS4 version can only play the single player part, without downloading a 9.4gb patch?

This is even worse than when you buy a physical game and when you open the box you find a Steam code. At least with those you just get a digital copy, not a worthless disc that needs the internet anyway.
