Haven't played Knack 2, so can't comment on that. Played the first one, it was trash.

NSMB games are solid but generic, 7/10 affairs.

Never know weather to treat these Knack vs Mario threads seriously. Its like comparing a Push bike to a GSXR.

Knack 2, after the first two entries NSMB became recycled, unambitious, soulless, cash-grab garbage. 2d Mario deserves better.

I'm not saying Knack 2 is a better game, but I'm happier that it exists rather than NSMB 5.

Nothing beats good old 2D Mario unless it's good old 3D Mario.

There's a lot of things that i like about sony,but knack represents all the ones that i don't.And if you just talking about the game as in level design,music,etc,than it's obviously mario. No matter how uninspired a mario game is,still a 8,5 at least.knack is so bad and cringy that even hurts.

OK. so NSMB opposite to SMB.

Obviously SMB1 2 and 3 are masterpieces... each for their own right.

NSMB is different, yes, less innovative and groundbreaking but still. Knack? will always be the little brother and I will be surprised if we will still be talking about it in 10 years time.

Oddly enough the thread has good responses. Nice to see opinions on two flawed, but accepted games.

Personally, I don't think they're similar enough to make a comparison. I mean, Knack 1 and 2 only have 2 play co-op, while NSMB has 4, as well as 3D vs 2D style games. It'd make more sense to compare Knack to Mario 3D World, and yet that is 4 player as well.

Although, to answer the main topic, I'd go with NSMB, as I've played it with 3 of my friends, which were really fun, hectic, intense sessions every time we met up. We'd laugh and scream a lot from the chaos that'd happen with many of the levels. I don't think Knack could compete with that.
