Forums - General Discussion - NeoGAF in shambles (now back, no OT discussion, statement from Evilore)

I'm sorry, but until I get more info and proof of this 'serious' matter, I'm not going to judge. Again, accusations are not proof, they're just reasons to investigate to determine if there IS any proof so the authorities can deal with it. We really need to stop this immediately and not forget people are innocent until proven guilty. If we don't then the floodgates will open guilt will be determined by simply be who Tweets first.

Reminds of the recent South Park episode where Butters (I mean Professor Chaos) runs a troll farm.  Did he do it?  Maybe but I'm loving the meltdown regardless of him being innocent or guilty.

Anyone else find it funny we're in a thread called 'NeoGAF in shambles' when we can barely access VGChartz today?

Who would have thought - a virtue-signalling male feminist turning out to be a sexual aggressor.

Why do you have such a condescending and shitty attitude towards anyone who isn't conservative? It's fucking irritating and makes you look like a pompous ass

its because of the hypocrisy... like when priests turn out to be pedophiles... its the exact same thing

Happens a decent amount of time.  Least ioi doesn't have any controversy surrounding him.  He kind of just left the site in other people's hands though anyways.

You have to admit its not looking good.

He hasnt' issued a statement or denied the accusations.

Not a single one of NeoGAFs mods stood by him, not ONE. Chances are at least some of them are close aquaintances who did reach out.

I think its being deliberately obtuse to pretend that he isnt guilty at this point.

That plus past accusations and how he went all psycho trying to kill the discussion.

I mean come on, do you need DNA evidence, fingerprints, CCTV footage and eye witness acounts for this?

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Is there any actual proof he did this or is the entire thing based on speculation from that statement?

It is on facebook so it must be true.

Hahaha so true.

It's embarrassing all these witch hunts lately without solid proof.

I would kind of enjoy seeing gaf implode but they are innocent until proven guilty.  This is the mentality that seen women burnt at the state 300 years ago.

Evilore's disciples turned on him. That's something that doesn't happen on a whim, especially when you factor in that his disciples apparently still sided with him when they had to cover up for someone who got arrested for child pornography.

It doesn't 'prove' anything. People immediately want to put distance between themselves and controversy. I think that's what we're seeing here. How would those mods know any more than we do? Think about. I'm NOT saying he's innocent and I'm NOT saying he's guilty, I'm just saying we need to see proof and the woman in question needs to be asked some obvious questions, but unfortunately people are affraid to ask those questions because they fear it may look like they're siding with someone who has already been found guilty based on tweets and facebook. For society to function fairly, we need to have both parties questioned and not favour one over the other. I know for a victim of REAL sexual assault it's a harrowing time (I feel for their pain) but this is why we have courts and why real proof is needed. Have people even considered what questions need asking? I bet they haven't. They're just jumping on a bandwaggon set in motion by the recent Hollywood revelations.

Oh i just found what this is all about here:
https://imgur.com/a/FJrjx#Mq83KUL

This is all cause he probably got mixed signs and got in the shower with her when they went in a trip as friends. After she said it wasn't ok, he got out and resented her.

It sucks, but i'm not sure this can even be considered Sexual harassment. He didn't actually harass her or touched her from what i understand.

The street harrasment part is the only one that is not ok in my view, if true. But that is verbal abuse, not sexual harassment. Not sure it's even a crime unless it's on the workplace or something, but that is not ok.

Still, i dunno. This doesn't sound like a super unusual or harassment story. It's just how things happen sometimes. Sometimes people make mistakes. Love is complicated.

The are apprently other incidents involving the guy and as for the shower part unless she invited him into the shower that's a hard case to argue mixed messages if you're not given a full on invite to jump in.

She has a boyfriend and said yes to a road trip with another guy. The two of them it seems. Got drunk with him and was having fun.

I can see how that can be a mixed message. I would just like to hear his side of the story. Even if this was it. He got in the shower with her, wich was clearly a mistake and left once told. I don't see the harassment.

This is not like the Heirnstein guy or whatever he was called where he didn't care about what the woman said and was doing it anyways without giving them a choice. That is harassment.

It's amazing how quickly things can implode from a single accusation on Facebook. It's a really difficult topic (innocent until proven guilty versus sympathy for the alleged victim), but regardless it's a shitty situation for the thousands of users who made up the community and now in a blink of an eye have everything shattered. What happens now? Does a new website pop up to take its place? Does Neogaf make a return? Does everyone just disperse to their previous forums (like I'm doing now)?

ops i double posted.

Yeah i dunno. This story is questionable to me. I am not a friend or sympathiser of the guy. But it looks to me she did more damage to him than he did to her.
