But you can with positive comments, amirite?

Fair point but I'm not really interested in hearing from another positive (unless this is a more in-depth thread on the movie), then it's just a giant circle jerk. This is a bit of a reaction thread to a new trailer so it's far more engaging to hear from both sides. I wanna hear why you didn't like it, there may be things I missed that are glaring issues, inconsistences, etc. I commented to the response that grabbed my attention because it had such a different reaction from my own.

The trailer is too overdramatic. A lot of what's going on seems like over-acting, which is an idea that will probably be made fun of, but has been done in movies and is a pretty valid complaint. Most of all though the most dramatic events are being publicized before the movie comes out ... which I don't think is a good thing and if i remember correctly Episode 7's  trailers did a good job of only slightly hinting at what events will happen in the film. I feel like the fact that a lot of the "twists" are in the trailer makes it too obvious that these twists will be mundane or easy to predict.

In general though, the biggest reason I don't think it looks good is that it's a sequel to Episode 7. They'd have to make everything significantly better to improve it over the last film, and that would take a lot of work, dedication, and creativity. Something that hollywood is not known for. This still looks to action oriented for me, personally. But it is nice to see a focus on character growth, as cringy as these Rei scenes look already.

Actually, yes, because it's an attitude that doesn't annoy everyone else around you.

I for one always try to avoid watching trailers for movies because they spoil too much way too often (though that wasn't the case with TFA's trailer, which I also didn't see until after the movie), so I can't judge this one - however, based on the name, the logo, the one teaser I watched and both of Disney's attempts at Star Wars I can say I am extremely pessimistic about this movie, to the point I don't even care anymore. TFA tried too hard to be like ANH, this one looks like it's trying too hard to be like Empire, which is worse in my opinion (not in the sense that Empire is a worse movie than ANH, but in the sense that trying to replicate it is bound to yield much worse results).

Still, despite my negative opinion on this, I haven't bothered to actually come talk about it because I haven't seen the trailer and I don't feel compelled to ruin the hype.

How is this : "This looks awful ... hope it turns out better than the last one "

Annoying? It's not. You're just excusing obvious double standards. My comment was not even overly negative, and it wasn't making fun of other people's beliefs either. It wasn't annoying. If people are annoyed by it that's their problem. If people are annoyed or bothered by my comment, what can i say?  That sucks. But I made it as mundane as possible. I can't even see how it ruins anyones hype. I'm annoyed by your comment, by the way

Yes, it is a double standard. It also goes by another name, that being "common sense".

If everyone here on this thread was complaining and saying the movie looks like crap, maybe I wouldn't mind coming in to agree. However, when people are excited about something, coming in to just say "it looks awful" is just ruining the party. Of course, you're only sharing your opinion as is everyone else, but all it does is annoy everybody.

You literally came in here saying my comment was annoying ... because one person asked me for my opinion.

You are literally ruining the thread for no reason by starting an argument for no reason.

It's not common sense, I should be able to make a completely mundane non-confrontatial comment saying something looks bad when I believe it. Stop excusing poor mentalities. It's stupid. End of discussion. By the way, I posted that when only two people voiced their opinion.

Looks decent. Will probably see it opening weekend.

Well I believe in positivity, so I do have a problem when people spread negativity without justification. If you don't like something, the best thing is to let go and let other people be happy about it - of course, if you care about said something, it can be hard.

Maybe it is a poor mentality. But, if letting people enjoy something is stupid, then I'm all for it. In any case, you are still able to make a completely mundane comment, in fact you have done so. However, any kind of negative comment about anything is always bound to bring confrontation, so the least you can do is accept it and deal with it.

I'm not really ruining the thread, because there's no discussion going on here beside ours... which is funny because it's coming from the only two people in the thread who are feeling negative about the movie (as I said, negativeness draws in confrontation).

But you are being negative for NO REASON. This thread is about reactions to a movie. I posted a reaction. You said that I shouldn't post my reaction because it might annoy people.

Negativity or positivity doesn't need to be justified. But even then the person respectfully asked for my justification, and I gave it to him. So how did you enter into the picture?

I never said letting people enjoy something was stupid. Where did I say that? I said it's a poor mentality to not allow someone to post a negative comment and move on.

I DID ACCEPT that there was confrontation. I answered the guys question! I'm even answering your question! The only thing I didn't agree with was that my comment needed to justify itself to others - because positive comments seemingly don't have to.

Wait a minute ... you're saying your not ruining the thread because no other discussion is going on, right? Well, the discussion about my comment ended. Until you came in the thread. So .... uh ... your logic is circular. Your comment was about how I shouldnt have posted my comment because it annoyed people, but the thread only got discussion because you made your rebuttal in the first place. I.e. no point in the rebuttal.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi?

Looks more like Star Wars: Into Darkness judging by the trailer. Oh well, I've been suckered into paying to see every new SW release since Phantom Menace, though I skipped out on Rogue One (and thank God that I did, what a complete waste of everyone's time that movie was!), so I'll probably plunk down my hard earned dough for this one as well.

Can't hardly wait for Star Wars Episode VIII: The Mary Sue Strikes Back.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

You hadn't yet justified your opinion when I came in.

That's all I'm replying to, because I think this has gone a bit too far now. Either way, with you I know every response will be longer than the previous, so it isn't very healthy to keep going.

Good. I don't want you to argue about something not about you for no reason. All you did was add needless arguing to the thread.

By the way, my response get bigger because you want me to justify myself and because you wanted to argue, have some consistency ... and ... my sentences in the last reply were also very small, don't let vertical space get to you, I just pressed enter a lot more. Plus, your response was bigger. I had more to respond to.... don't know how this is complicated.

It was a good trailer but Crylo Ren was pouting again which was just... we all laughed when we saw that which is not good lol.

Looks amazing! But as with Final Fantasy fans, Zelda fans, and other similar... Star Wars has arguably the worst fanbase of all time. You can't please the stupid bastards. They'll hate it if it looks too new or too similar. Make it a mix and they still hate it. On top of the bad fanbase you got sexists who are afraid of Rey and racists who despise Finn. So they'll be fun to deal with as well as the actual fan base... not.

Well I hated TFA so not sure I'll enjoy this one.
