Forums - Nintendo Discussion - List of Physical Switch Games (NA Releases & English Imports)

After having a ridiculous war with some narrowminded tools over at Wikipedia regarding the addition of some kind of indicator on the List of Switch Games page, that would highlight games that are available at retail and not just digital only (a war which I finally relented on, because these guys flat-out refused to see why something like this might be useful), I happened to discover a thread over in the nintendolife.com forums that was attempting to maintain this exact type of list.

...and then I thought hell, maybe I should start up a similar one right here at my favorite website! There's NO WAY a bunch of gamers that are interested in sales charts and such, wouldn't be at least remotely interested in potentially collecting physical versions of a game over a digital version. There's no possible way I'm the only one who has a preference for a physical cartridge that I can touch and own forever, rather than some downloadable game that's "sort of" mine (at least until Nintendo says, they're retiring this particular server forever).

So, here we go! I'll update this post as things change and new releases are announced (as often as I can), and perhaps I'll add boxarts too. For now, it's just the list of games (NA Releases - only, for now) with their release dates. It will NOT be perfect (as far as future releases), but I will do what I can to keep it as accurate as possible. If there's little to no interest, well then I'll just let the thread fall off and out of existance...  :(

Hey, haven't seen you in a minute. Some of those games are little surprising to see physical releases. I know some indie games have gotten physical releases in the recent years but didn't expect to see Retro City and a few others on the list.

Retro City is (will be!) available through the developer's website (vblank.com) - which is what I'm really loving about some of these releases!! These self-published titles will have a great deal of care put into them (I think!) - and since they'll likely be a limited run, will probably hold a greater value...  :)

Hey its TalonMan! Welcome back!

Anyway Redout is coming out in October? I remember it was supposed to come out in June. Also Snipperclips has a retail copy? I thought it was a digital code?

Anyway you are not the only one to prefer physical copies. I also buy all my games physical when given the chance. Going digital only always felt shortsighted to me.

Tag:I'm not bias towards Nintendo. You just think that way (Admin note - it's "biased".  Not "bias")
(killeryoshis note - Who put that there ?)
Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems!

Most of these dates come from either Amazon or BestBuy pre-orders I've already placed - are they etched in stone and guaranteed to release? I'm not sure I know for sure, one way or the other. But if these retailers are letting me place orders for these games, I have to assume there is a higher chance of release, than not...  :)

As for Snipperclips - I think this is a more 'complete' version, than the download one (hence, the retail release).

As for Redout - Amazon has 10/24, Gamestop has 12/31, and BestBuy has TBA - so your guess is as good as mine as to if/when this will actually release! LOL!!

Typical of wikipedia, I've known mods of different sections to contradict each other on a frequent basis. I've given up trying to contribute now.

Me too.

I was handing them evidence of this type of information being available for nearly every console (the PS3 has an entire page dedicated SOLELY for listing physical games!), but they refused to see the light...

you shoudl have donated liek their donation bar suggests only then they listen lol.

Gear.Club Unlimited is getting a physical release through Gamestop, Minecraft is also getting one.

Here’s a great site that I use all the time. Half the time will say if there’s a physical version coming even before it’s announced.

I keep hearing mixed news on the Minecraft release. I've intentionally held off on buying it, because I'd MUCH rather have a physical copy - but I haven't been able to find confirmation from anyone, as to whether it is (or is not) getting released. :(

Party Planet is another 'Gamestop only' physical release. Even though the gamefly site looks nicers (obviously), I think my list is more complete...  :P

Edit: And I do have Gears Club in my list above, already...
