Forums - Gaming - Gran Turismo Sport vs Forza Motorsport 7 comparison with the Corvette C7

My love for gt will come hitting hard very soon.

Not a contest from this footage, GTS looks a lot better.

...but it's not like you can get either game on both platforms, so there you go.

Eh.... difficult to make a comparison. As others have stated, lighting conditions (time of day) is different in both videos. But from the 4k video I've seen, I would suggest that the car in Forza looks superior (Higher poly count? more detailed and sharper looking). But the sun reflection on the car in GTS looks way better. Even on other tracks in the game of Forza, it doesn't look as good as in GTS. I only have the Demo of Forza 7 on PC, so there are only 3 tracks I can try out in 4k HDR Chroma 4:2:2 :/
Btw..... Do the console do chroma 4:2:2 or 4:4:4?

The ps4 pro does 4K HDR 10 bit RGB or 4:4:4 via hdmi 2.0a, I had to swap my cables as the old cable couldn't handle it. (Putting a end to the 'hdmi cables are all the same' myth, I only got static, while the cable works fine at lower resolutions) I expect the One S and One X to do the same, why take the effort to compress the signal?

Both of them still don't look anywhere close to real life. Resolution has outpaced fidelity in the environments so far that both are very much looking like video games again. And lol at still using kite cam in 2017 for supposed sim racers. That nonsense should be locked to arcade mode. That said, I prefer the lighting in GTS, can't wait to see how it translates to PSVR's OLED screen.

Btw since both have the same cars and tracks, isn't it time for Forza/GT cross play. Come on, epic battles await. Which cars actually drive better.

I'm playing the Forza 7 demo right now and the game has a good amount of aliasing and the lighting isn't great. Honestly I think the more subdued colors of the track in the video means Forza can't hide it's flaws in bright colors like it does on other tracks.

Oh, and what the fuck are these loading times?!?

Edit: 1:12.52 to get into a race from the moment you press start to when you first see your car in the track. Kill me.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Car models and track detail is better in GT Sport.

Looks like Forza has very little real-time shadowing. And the colors are much more bland. Pretty sad for an 8th gen game. Especially when it's supposed to be a flagship for the console.

Really, this game has had little hype that I have seen. And the reception for it doesn't seem that great, either. It just came out, but has already slipped to #90 on Amazon and may be dropping out of the Top 100. It also has a 2 1/2 star rating on Amazon. Reading some of the reviews, it's obvious they aren't just some fanboys trying to downvote it for no reason.

I agree the lighting looks better in GT, but Forza 7's recording is just bad. The colors in the video are washed out but I think you know that.

I don't think anybody is arguing Forza has the best visuals of all racing games, more importantly has very polished visuals, locked at 60 fps, and offers a ton of content. Even if GT Sport looks better, its appears to be slim on content and has been in development for a long time.

Its funny you mention the Amazon reviews and completely ignore the Metacritic. That's usually a sign somebody has an agenda.

Or maybe I care about the opinion of other gamers over "professional" reviewers?

And how do we know the recording is bad? Maybe you are the one with the agenda.

From my experience, the GT series has always had better lighting model then the Forza series. As for this video comparisons, I will say from my time with the demo on the X1 it does not look anywhere close to being this washed out. I would still give GT the edge in lighting but Forza in car dash are way better looking. It seems to me that each developer focused on different graphical points for their games.

Thanks for the reply. But as far as I read, 4K 60 hz HDR 10 Bit RGB at chroma 4:4:4 are not possible with the current HDMI 2.0/a/b, because that exceeds the bandwidth of 18 Gbps. That's what current Premium HDMI cables are capable of.

On my PC/TV settings I can only go for YUV 4:2:2 10 Bit 4K at 60 hz or YUV 4:4:4 / RGB at 8 bit 4k 60 hz.

https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/980356/4k-resolution-at-60p-and-10-bit-in-tv-help/

That's why I am curious at how the consoles are doing it. Or am I missing something?

HDMI 2.1 on the other hand doubles the bandwidth and newer HDMI cables are on the way for supporting that bandwidth.

On an additional note. Windows 10 CU only enables HDR on YUF 4:2:2 10 bit. I could use HDR on 8 bit before win 10 CU on Resident Evil 7. Now it looks like shit. Same goes for Forza 7 on PC in HDR.

I think compression and other stuff has to this with the blandness, I play Forza 7 on base Xbox One and it looks much better than this.

but still, GT sport looks a fair bit better. Polyphony certainly know their stuff in the graphics and lighting department, as well as car physics. It's only when you look at other areas of the game like having no campaign, car and track selection, dynamic weather, etc where's this game falters and forza 7 succeeds... but it's not a discussion about that, so I digress.

GTS has a campaign

GTS looks way better in that footage.  Not even a contest when the camera is behind the car.

However, that's PC footage for FM7, so who knows how well optimized it is.  I've read nothing about it, to be honest.

Also, the Forza car is skittering around ... is that normal for Forza?  It's like there is no downforce at all.

The driving in Forza has never been as realistic as in gran turismo. It holds true with the latest editions by the looks of it.

It sure looks better in GT Sport but FM7 doesn't look like what we've seen in the E3 trailer ... was it downgraded for the PC version at least ?

Pretty sure we wouldn't have this thread if it was the other way around huh Kerotan ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) ?

Let's leave the personal digs out of this and just discuss the topic at hand.  Thanks.

My bad, I forgot. But the "campaign" is a buch of license tests, pretty much non-existent.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Why do they look so different? Shouldn't they be from the same license?
