Forums - Gaming - So is "get a second job for a PS3" gaming's biggest misquote?

This is a distinction without difference. Basicslly the idea remains the same, if you want a PS3 work more.

Nothing beats Don Mattrick's

" fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity, it's called Xbox 360.""

Is the Top

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

"... we want consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else."

There's nothing wrong with what he said because everybody is guilty of doing that in some form when they want something that's more expensive than the average. ie luxury car, handbags, cell phones, tvs, computers etc...I know I do this with many products I've purchased.

I could have sworn the quote was an interview post E3..maybe not long before launch and from Tretton or Harrison.

Working more hours to buy a console is basically just as bad.

Work more on your current job or getting a second job (if you can find one in 2007) have way different meaning

That's not a misquote though. That was actually said. This is about quotes and such out of gaming that weren't actually said, but people think they did because it was repeated enough.

Think "Beam me up, Scotty". Captain Kirk never says these actual words in Star Trek, at least not in that order, but people attribute that to the show anyway. Ken Kutaragi never said "get a second job" to get a PS3, but a lot of people think he did.

What does it matter if I work 10 extra hours at my current job or at a second job? In otherwords, why does this difference matter? I never said they didn't have different meanings, I said the difference doesn't matter, hence "this is a distinction without difference."

The unemployment rate in 2007 wasn't that much different than it is today in the U.S.

The recession didn't happen until 2008.

As a Metroid fan, the one that immediately comes to mind is Yoshio Sakamoto saying that the storyline of the Metroid Prime games is largely unrelated to the 2D Metroid titles, which somehow wound up being interpreted by a bunch of people as him saying that the Prime games were non-canon.
