Yeah, it's when you try to hide or remove something, but you end up bringing more attention to it.

| Suky said: Now to mention my experience. I enjoyed very much Atlus titles in the PS2 era. Shin Megami Tensei, Persona 3 and 4. I don't know if is me but ,Do I feel this game async for this gen? Or maybe Im getting old? Ignoring some stuttering and loading times, I just feel that lost its punch from early releases. I dont think this game is meant to the PS4 and the same goes for Disgaea 5 just to mention the ones that I noticed. If like I mention before, these games and others are just put to hold like last guardian...this was to be expected. |
Persona 5 async for this gen, lost its punch? What?
The game is just the best selling Persona game ever (Atlus game even!), has been a critical success and called the best JRPG of the last decade or even the revival of true JRPGs. What are you even talking about?
Persona 4 Golden was my favorite game ever so far, and Persona 5 is surpassing it. You're just getting old or should try another genre.
to be fair, them accepting donations via patreon is... kinda in a grey area.
Atlus trying really hard recently to become the new Konami. If they think the financial damage they receive through emulators is too much, then why not release it on PC? Surely porting and then selling it costs them less.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
Props for Patreon actually sticking by their creators, unlike youtube who is currently too busy with destroying their own eco-system.
Emulation, especially if it was backwards engeneered is perfectly legal in the US, there's presedent for that. And that is even true if they actively tried to sell the emu as a commercial product, as long as they keep within certain parameters. So this was 100% the right decision by Patreon.

Yes. Streisand tried to remove the photo of her house in a series of photos of the amnerican coast, and now the exact photo is the top of the Wikipedia-article of an effect named after her.

If I were Atlus I'd come out and say "We were planning on bringing Persona 5 to PC, but since everyone is already emulating it we won't bother"

Why even bother, Atlus? Neither Sony nor Nintendo have been able to kill emulation of their systems, what did you think you were going to do?
At the very least it hints to more Persona 5 releases, I guess?
As usual, when talk of emulation pops up:
They can't do diddly squat about it, DraStic (DS Emulator) goes for $5 on Google app store for years now.

Then that'd be a good job at trying to threaten the platform and earning even more ire.
You don't try and never will control the open platform, so best to stop thinking you can. threatening it will just earn you ire and tbh, I've never seen another industry make such a threat that wasn't met with ire and deserved backlash. Imagine if M&S threatened it's consumer base that it won't sell a type of food Tesco is selling unless it bought something else of theirs that they wanted their consumers to buy, people would go apeshit and rightfully so.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
