Forums - Sales - NA sales.

Budget games are counted at $10, $20 so Wii Play is no different. Wii Sports is a genuine game that comes bundled with Wii. People could quite reasonably buy a Wii and Wii Sports and just play Wii Sports, would you count this as a zero tie ratio?

Personally, I don't have much time to play games, however, I have a Wii with Zelda, Wii Sports and Wii Play and despite Ocarina of Time being my favourite game ever I have probably played Wii Sports 60% of the time and Wii Play 30% of the time. They effectively cost me $10 but they are enough to warrant a purchase of Wii and to make Sunday afternoons with my family even more enjoyable. So why shouldn't they both be counted as sales?

The PS3 would be around 4% if MLB didnt come out.

but MLB did come out so your arguement falls apart.

Did you read my thread? It's only at whatever percent I said, because it did come out. Your post seems to be attacking my intelligence... but, hey, that's what people do to me all the time... enjoy.

PS4 - the combo PSP comes with a game, if 1/5 new PSP buyers got the combo PSP... they would get that game. That game sold under 1288. Or LESS 3% of PSPs were the combo PSP. However every time I go in the store at least 1/3 sold is a combo-PSP. That would mean there should have been at least 10,000 of that game sold. It's not counted for the PSP. 100% positive it's not. Stop saying stuff is when it's not. If you wanna prove me wrong.

Some people like simple games, some dont. I personally would have rather got my Wii for 200$ and not got it. That's me.

My point on this is, as long as nintendo bundles that game with the Wii... Wii sports will be the #1 selling game on this website. That's not right, as likely that will be bundled for at least 1 more year, and quite possibly, untill the end of the console generation. Because your Wii breaks, and you do a warrenty exchange though best-buy... you give Nintendo 2 numbes. +1Wii, +1Game.

Thanks for being so positive everyone.

EDIT: somewhere else, someone was saying they cant remove the numbers because they are counted as total sales. Unless you can buy a box of it in the region, I do NOT feel it should be counted as a sale. However if you CAN, then it should be. However, the number sold because of the bundle, shouldnt be shown on the top 200 list. Possibly have a side-note somewhere, about the number or something.

EDIT2: I feel that the motorstorm demo should be counted as a bundled game for the PS3 as well in all regions, becuase it is a much bigger 'chunk' of game, than Wii play. My point on that is, anyone who has a PS3 can get the demo. Due to the fact there is so much to do on that demo, compared to nintendo's 'bundled' games, I feel it should be considered a 'bundled' demo. As even though it's not the full game, it is playable, and it has much more entertainment value than Wii Sports for me. I think we should add 'Motorstorm Demo' to this website, as well as most any high budget demo games. Becuase if a 10$ game gets counted, a demo of a 60$ game seems to be close to the same 'value'. This is scarcasm incase anything thinks I'm being serious about the demos being counted, but I do feel that the motorstorm demo means more to me... in terms of entertaiment, the demo should be counted as more of a game than Wii Sports.

The attach rate statistics are the exact reason you can't just not include these, Kwaad.

Yes, the games come automatically with the system. Do you know why people are buying less games for their Wii? Because they already have Wii Sports and Wii Play. You buy a system and an extra controller, and for a lot of people, bam, you have enough games to keep you occupied until Christmas. If those games weren't included, then other games would be purchased in their place. The people who are currently content with Sports/Play and don't need another game yet obviously would need another game if Sports/Play simply didn't exist.

Very nice analysis. I, however, tend to agree with the above. Since they get 2 games, they dont get more. Also, while I do think Wii Sports need not be included, Wii Play IS packaged as a $50 dollar game with a BONUS Wii remote. While most will say that it is a remote with a wiimote, as far as Nintendo is concerned, it is a game with an added incentive to buy it.

As for what you said about non-gamer's buying more games: IMHO, I would say that, at least for now, a large majority is simply content with only Wii Sports and Wii Play. I agree that, if you take these 2 "games" out, the attach ratio for the Wii is rather low. However, I expect that, with time, this should change.

I have 10 Wii games (Wii Play,Wii Sports included).

I thought they discontinued the Xbox. I have never seen a brand new Xbox in a store for a very long time. I see many Gamecubes, but never new Xboxs. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the Gamecube has outsold the Xbox by now. Seriously, I have never seen a brand new Xbox in a store for over a year. How on Earth could 7,507 consoles have been sold???

@a.l.e.x59, Could you also anwser Kwaad's question, in order to contribute something to the thread. In response to you post, Yeah. Where the hell are all of these new Xbox's.

If Wii Play didn't exist, and Wii Sports didn't come with the console, would you have bought other games, or would you have simply let your system sit there idle? Serious question.

I'd never let it be idle, that's for sure.

I'm price conscious, so bought the console when I realised it was going to be popular enough for me not to be able to wait for a price drop (with something this popular it'd be crazy to drop the price in the first 2 years). I really like Wii Sports and think Wii Play is worth the extra money, so that played into it too.

If I had bought the console, I'd at least have bought one game for it - even without Wii Sports or Play. Twilight Princess would be my choice, but I'm now playing with the thought of playing the Zeldas I think I'll like best "chronologically" (Zelda LLTP, OT, MM, then TP - I've only ever played OT). ...

you're crazy if you skip Wind Waker. Don't let the cel shading haters fool you, Wind Waker was a fantastic Zelda game, if a little light on temples

Help! I'm stuck in a forum signature!

One way you could do it is go with the true attach rate, but you cant count Wii sports/play, because of what I said above, We just halved the Wii's attach rate. It went from 'decent' to horrible. In all honesty, I'm amazed that zelda, and wario have droped as low as they have, AAA games like that usually are bought by around 25-50% of new consoles sold, over the next 6-12 months, ESPECIALLY exclusive ones. Zelda is holding at 1/6 bought zelda.

Resistance is still holding roughly a 25% of new console buyers are buying resistance. Was resistance that great? Was it that amazing? I didnt think so, yet it's sold quite a few copies considering the number of consoles sold.

My point here isnt PS3 rules and Wii sucks. For all I care a freight-train could run through sony headquarters and I would laugh... I would laugh a little more becuase I would say something like. "the train went wii wii wii all the way into the wii factory." But my point here is, that's low, a hell of a lot lower than I thought. Wii game sales are low.

Addressing the low 1/6 attach ratio of Zelda. It could be that the core gamers still havent picked up a Wii, perhaps waiting for more AAA titles, like Mario. If the argument works for the PS3, it can work for the Wii.

I previously addressed why the Wii game sales are low, which I totally agree to.

Most people who buy a Wii usually play the stupid Wii Sports game. I sold my Wii Sports for $5. I only have one game for the Wii, and that's "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess." Most people who have a Wii only have one or two games; Wario Ware: Smooth Moves, and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. This is excluding Wii Sports, and Wii Play, since technically, they aren't full games. Some other people purchased the Wii for Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Metroid Prime 3, and a few other anticipated games, which have yet be be released.

@ a.l.e.x59 & DonWii The numbers on the graph above are software(game) numbers for the week. Not console sales. This only shows that xbox owners bought 7,507 games that week. We have no idea if any xbox consoles were sold that week. But I would guess few to none were sold.

I actually agree that Wii Play shouldn't be counted, but even NPD and MC and all them count that. Wii Sports bundled isn't tracked by them though and it seems like it shouldn't be here either. But it does still contribute to attach rates, since people do play it instead of other games. Just not as much as if it weren't bundled. So what, do you count half of it? *shrug*
