Sure, but why not open up cross play with XB and try and tempt as many XB1 gamers as possible to play the Fortnite version. Not only do those XB gamers get what they want so bad (some PS gamers too), but then PUBG is much less of a draw and bragging point for XB1.

It could also be used to say why cross play is a "bad idea" by PS. If PUBG does amazing on XB1, and all those XB players are playing PUBG and not Fortnite, then PS can say, well we opened up crossplay to XB gamers, and nobody showed up, so that's proof its a waste of time going forward.

PS1   - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.

PS2  - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.

PS3   - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.

PS4   - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.

PRO  -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.

PS5   - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.

PRO  -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.

Xbox owners can already play the Fortnite ripoff mode though.

So basically what your saying is cross play wouldn't be enough of an incentive? Possibly not, but I would have to think if PUBG was only on XB1, yet Fortnite is available to both consoles, and is also cross play between them, that should draw a lot of gamers from both sides. XB gamers seem to be pushing for cross play hard and some are trashing PS for not letting it happen. If Fortnite was the first game to give players this opportunity, you would have to assume the number of gamers, especially on XB, who would take advantage of this, should be massive. Sure PUBG is its own style and some won't like Fortnite's game play, but with the popularity of PUBG's "last man standing", Fortnite Battle Royale could become huge, having a potential player base that large. If cross play were to happen for Fortnite, then it would be highly likely that PUBG would hurry up and launch on PS4 asap, putting a damper on XB1's PUBG timed/launch exclusivity.

I don't think people would care. Fortnite added a PUBG mode but it's still not PUBG. I just don't see why crossplay would matter. 1, no one has problems finding matches in Fortnite on Xbone. 2, no one is going to have problems finding matches in PUBG. Also I think it's only coming to Xbone because it's early access.

Well if people don't really care, then PS is justified in not worrying about cross play for the most part. To say, only games that end up having a poor user base need cross play, but others don't and would be a waste, is another reason why PS wouldn't make it a priority. If a game sells that bad or has few online players, there's more than likely a valid reason for it. You also can't always please everyone, even the few who may be addicted to a low user base game. There is always the option to try another similar game with a larger user base, or just try another game altogether. For PS and the available PS4 library, this shouldn't really be much of a problem from their point of view.

Maybe the whole thing was just a fluke, but it kind of seemed like there was something more at play, even if somebody was just simply testing the waters, "inadvertently".

Well, people don't care because if the game involved. It's Fortnite. And it's a PUBG ripoff mode. There's no squads yet, there's no voice chat. You just matchmake with random people and play. Furthermore Fortnite is a game that released and people have had a chance for months to pick it up. Those not interested in Fortnite aren't going to pick it up just because of crossplay.

Which, imho, is the main flaw of the argument here. Crossplay CAN be a big feature, and also not be a big deal in Fortnite. You'd be asking people to play a game they've already largely ignored for crossplay in its PUBG ripoff mode, over actually playing PUBG itself. The only big game where crossplay has been approached so far is Minecraft. And it's a gargantuan feature in that game now. The Realms feature where you have a persistent game world where you and friends can play at any time from any device (except a PS4) whether the world creator is online or not, that's big. That dude who shot gunned you in half a second in Fortnite being a PlayStation or Xbox user.... who cares?

Winner winner llama dinner.

Got one in squads. I only play now if one of my brothers logs on and wants to play. This was the easiest match ever. I guess luck really plays a big role in a lot of success in these games. The first house we rolled into spawned a rocket launcher out of the chest. I've never even see a RL in this mode. We found multiple medkits for each of us, plus bandages, plus shield potions. I killed one person who was hiding in a building and they dropped a rare sniper with 54 rounds of ammo, and 9 rockets. So we came into the last little area all of us full health and at least half shields, med kits for backup. I had a rocket launcher, an epic assault rifle, and a rare sniper with 54 bullets. My brother also had a sniper and rocket launcher. We were with two strangers. Two times enemy groups tried building big rooms for cover and we just blew them to smithereens with our rockets.

This rip off might help accelerate the launch of the ps4 version of Pubg so I am glad this free game came through.

A rip-off of a rip-off??

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)
