wasn't shocked. we already saw it in the past where the 3rd party games are priced higher in Nintendo.

It's the UK, most shops undercut the RRP by a wide margin. Consumers will be able to buy the Switch and Xbox/PS4 versions for a good price.

~~~~ Mario Kart 8 drove far past my expectations! Never again will I doubt the wheels of a Monster Franchise! :0 ~~~~
Now now I wonder if this is something to do with each local Nintendo office?
The reason I say this is, why is FIFA 18 on switch in Australia $10 cheaper then the PS4/ONE
But in EUR all three versions are 69.99EUR
On a side note L.A Noire in Australia is $89.95 for all three versions
Hã? How specs in the same device can change? If you're mentioning performance, considering the Skyrim on Switch, it looks like you're taking these statements out of your ass. |
Hes talking about Gflops of compute (I think)... not strickly about how much graphics one device is able to do vs another.
But not all flops are equal. It works when compairing sony vs ms, because they both use the same architecture and cpu/gpu by amd.
However if you disreguard that, hes kinda right (and wrong too).
PS4 = 1840 Gflops (slim)
Xb1 = 1400 Gflops (slim)
PS3 = ~380 Gflops of compute (gpu+cpu wise)
xb360 = ~360 Gflops of compute
Switch (docked) = ~397 Gflops
Switch (handheld) = ~157 Gflops
However even though compute wise you might think the switch barely faster than the PS3, thats not quite true, theres more to graphics than just Gflop numbers. Still hes right in that the Switch probably doesnt have the power to do a game like this, in 4k.
likely because its a port on the sony, microsoft consoles but brand new for a nintendo console.
Of course it's the cartridge, it's not even mass produced.
for the switch you are only stating gpu gflops, you are not adding the cpu gflops like you are with ps3 and 360.
There's also another point to add: the prices of cards have *never* been a problem on handheld systems. DS games were cheaper than PS3 games, Vita games cheaper than PS4 games, 3DS games cheaper than Wii U games. But of course, all of a sudden people assume that prices for these cards skyrocketed even though Nintendo and many other publishers are perfectly capable of releasing their games at standard prices.
Edit: Just to illustrate my point, I got the Binding of Isaac retail version for Switch yesterday. It comes on a card, with a manual and even a bunch of stickers and it was €39.99, just 4 Euro more expensive than the Steam version of the game. Sure, the game is small. But still.
Don't forget memory bandwidth, memory latency, memory capacity, cache size, cache bandwidth, cache latency, compression, culling, half rate floating point, integer, fillrate performance and so on and so forth.
The Switch even in handheld mode is easily superior to the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. The games have proven that. This shouldn't even be up for debate at this point.
Wii games were also cheaper than ps3 and 360 games. DS and vita games have lower budgets, plus the carts for those were pretty small. DS was max 512MB, 3DS started with 1GB to 2GB carts, max 8GB. I don't think there even is an 8GB 3DS cart yet, there are only about 6 games that go over 2GB. https://www.reddit.com/r/3DS/wiki/size_of_games
Switch is in a different ball park, AAA budget games, already needing 32GB for some in the first year.
