Forums - Gaming - Does a games location increase its sales in that location?

http://www.amazon.in/gp/bestsellers/videogames?ie=UTF8&ref_=sv_v_7

Amazon India, lost legacy has been #1 there since about a week before launch. Performing much better relative to other amazon's around the world. Lost legacy has done good on the others but not this good.

Is this because of the games location which is India, both rural and suburban. The main character Chloe is also half Indian.

So is this boosting it's sales in the region?

Does the witcher being made by a Polish dev and based on the terrain of Poland and Germany boost its sales there?

Did gta 4 sell more in new York?

Vice city sell more in miami?

Gta V sell more in LA?

You can probably think of others but does this boost sales in specific regions?

Well Breath of the Wild has been #1 on Amazon's entire video game catalog since it launched in Hyrule, so yeah, probably

Bubsy and Knack sell the best in the Mushroom Kingdom.

I don't know if anybody's ever really done an in-depth study or anything, but there's certainly some evidence of the reverse being true. Yakuza struggles overseas for the most part because it's so heavily based in Japan that it probably turned away some Western buyers, just to name one example. In those cases, you've gotta wonder if the question then is if the local sales are enough to offset the lost international sales.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

Well obviously not always, Call of duty world at war did nothing sales wise in Japan.

Depends if the location is good... in some areas of Brazil the game would be to ugly.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

I think Resistance Fall of Man did well in the UK for that reason.

Which parts of Romania have better relative sales for Castlevania?

I wouldn't be surprised if it did better in Transylvania than in what used to be Wallachia :P
