So VGChartz thinks that there were exactly 469 unsold Nintendo Switch consoles in the world at the end of June?

Pretty reasonable.

The stores here in Stockholm alone easily have that many in stock, probably more. Overtracked for sure. I think I may end up being right about my Japan prediction after all by the looks of it (Switch might have 50% of its lifetime sales in Japan alone, it's perfect for the Japanese market).

Yeah, that's not going to happen.

Okay, I didn't make that post so that people could use it as a springboard for ridiculous predictions. 3DS barely has a third of its lifetime sales in Japan. Switch is doing much better than 3DS in both North America and Europe, while it is only on par with 3DS in Japan. How does that suggest lifetime sales that are more concentrated in Japan than any Nintendo console ever?

Yeah, it's probably overtracked then.

On the other hand, Switch numbers for July 1st/8th seem a bit too low

They're crazy about handheld gaming, the demand seems huge, it'll have great Japanese support but probably not so much Western support (if FIFA tanks, goodbye EA, and Skyrim is a port of a six year old game now available on a ridiculous amount of platforms, so let's not argue this one right now), Japan is also a huge market for tablets and smartphones games and gaming. Overall, I also think the Switch will have a fairly short lifespan due to its design and nature, but will get many revisions during that time, revised consoles usually sell really well in Japan, look at how they crazy it gets every time a new 3DS model arrives (every other month or so... ). If you look at Nintendo's handhelds, you'll note that they used to sell considerably more in EU and NA before, in percentages, Japan has been taking a bigger and bigger chunk of the global installed base. Even the DS has sold 19 million more in Europe and a whooping 24 million more in NA than in Japan, while the 3DS has sold the most in Japan and Europe has bought over 5 million less, if the trend continues and grows, my predicion is not impossible. Improbable? Yes, of course, but not impossible.

To be fair, I use words like "I think" and "might have", it's just a hunch, a possibility. I have a feeling it will sell pretty poorly in Europe and that the Americas will lose interest a whole lot quicker than Japan. Hey, I could be wrong as hell, I'm open to that.

And I know you didn't intent to create a springboard, that wasn't at all what I was doing.

Is it crazy to think that the PS4 could do 75M-77M units by the end of December 2017?

Well, if you consider that Sony thinks that they'll ship 78 million units by the end of March 2018...

Yes.

God, it's been a massacre for XB1 since Switch's release... Can't say I'm surprised; both PS4 and Switch are great platforms, and make an awesome gaming pair.

I don't think it's crazy at all; hell, I think it'll do more.  Sony is expecting 79 million sold by March 31st, which is likely a conservative estimate. If Destiny 2, GTS, CoD, and BF2 do some killer numbers this year, this holiday PS4 is going to shatter last year's record holiday sales.
