And it seems to be running on a PC, probably Windows (at least the mouse cursor looks exactly like the Windows-cursor).

Even if this doesn't eventuate into anything, I hope that Nintendo comments on all this VR stuff. Especially from an investors point of view, surely the company should be disclosing some sort of breakdown on how their R&D budget is being spent.

Well yes ofcourse. He's also wearing a Vive and is sitting in a non standard controller :p
The Switch will need a revision first to put MK8 into VR. It only runs at 720p60 undocked while on the Vive it runs at 1200p90 with much higher render fov and stereoscopic rendering. Ofcourse since the screen is only 720p, some low res cut down version could be possible.

What had this got to do with anything you quoted and / or tried to contend in the first place? |
Even if it's leftover Nintendo code, it has significance?
Switch is already better than VR IMO.
- Play on your TV and then take it anywhere / reserve a room in your house
- Create 2 player experiences anytime, anywhere / play alone with your head in a helmet
- Get nauseous playing on the bus / get nauseous playing on your stationary couch
I guess not enough immersion is the only shortcoming. I personally wish Nintendo would actually take an anti-VR stance, but I guess it's easier to be non-committal in case it turns out to be huge one day.
Doesn't mean too much. GameCube had stereocopic 3D capability and we all know how much that was used.

that doesnt really mean that you will see VR on Switch. Sony were working on VR a couple years before PS4 was even finalised and announced. Them looking into VR is standard procedure as much as them already beginning preliminary work on the next console. |
Well we dont know for how long Nintendo is working on VR or when we could see it, also It doesn't mean that we will 100% see it on Switch, but it means that are good chances that we will see some kind of VR addon for Switch platform in one point.
Could be VRWorks too. Nvidia been pushing that for years.
