Although the figures are probably off for both consoles, and it's reasonable to assume that this happened a while ago, this is the first time that the front page has shown a 2:1 sales advantage in favor of Ps4 since.... Ever!

I guess to add a little to the Op: what do you think will be the highest marketshare PS4 will achieve % wise, shown here on VGC? Does it have a shot at 60%? I think not personally now that the switch is out but we'll see.

I think the Switch is the reason they WILL hit 60% at some point. They haven't defined it as 8th gen, so all its doing is eating the abysmal Wii U sales and allowing for further creep up for PS4.

Well, I don't know if VGC is really "officially" acknowledging it, Brett hasn't come up with an official statement, and Machina/Trunks themselves aren't able to adjust hardware figures, so I'd say that this is really not the big news that it may seem to be.

I think PS4 will have over 60% market share since Switch is 9th gen.

At this point Sony doesn't really have any competition. Microsoft has given up on the console market as a whole. XB1X is their next gen system. Three years down the road when people start asking where the XB2 is, MS will point to the XB1X and say "that's it, that's our competitor to the PS5". This will give them a way to back out of the console business entirely, while being able to deny it publicly. Meanwhile they will continue to fight steam for control of the PC market. I imagine they will do everything they can to dethrone steam, in the same way that they pushed so hard to dethrone Sony in the 360/PS3 era. After all the real money is in "games as a service" nonsense.

I just don't understand why anybody would want to own an XB1 at this point. The library isn't as good as PS4. It isn't portable like the Switch. It doesn't offer freedom like the PC.

Been waiting on that a while, lol. Wonder if it can maintain that ratio at the end of the year after the X releases.
