the interval between PS5 to PS4Pro will be enough to have at least 3x power difference but I would say more in line with 6x.

That may not be enough to make a very big difference in pixel count, but IQ and framerate can be severely different.

Timeframe for that probably 4 years since Pro.

3X power difference is nothing and it's not a generation difference if the price is 400+ and the Pro is 200.  The Pro will be the mass market device and the PS5 will be the premium.  The only thing that will change this is if Sony make it so the PS5 has its own exclusive games and they look way better than what can be played on the Pro.

Sony making PS5 a new gen it's quite obvious that it will have its own exclusives even if it have backward compatibility.

And there is very little reason for sony to launch the console at over 400 USD. Also I don't think Pro will be 200 USD by 2020.

Sony has made no statements if their next system will be backward compatible.  For one thing they have the PSNow service which could be their means to supply anyone who wants backwards compatible games especially since they started adding PS4 games to the service.  As for Sony charging more than 400 for the PS5, who knows.  Killing it this gen could easily cause Sony to believe they control the market again and whatever price they charge customers will snap it up.

As for the Pro being 200 bones by 2020, that will be up to Sony but it should be the base system when PS5 shows up.  I do not see the Pro being any more than 250 and holiday sales probably would drop 50 off and include a pack in game.

Either way MS strategy is pretty clear cut, Sony is not.  The PS5 having exclusive games with it only have 3X power over the Pro may or may not be a good strategy.  It really will depend on how much better the games actually appear compared to what can be accomplished with the Pro.  That may only translate to a 30fps game going 60fps with the same IQ.

Yes Sony haven't made any statement on it being backward compatibility, and that is why there is even less reason to believe PS4Pro will play PS5 games as you implied moments before.

Who knows? Sony. Even for Pro that is just an upgrade special edition Sony didn't want to make it too expensive. So you wanting Sony to decide to repeat a mistake to end up over 400 is less probable than they keep it under 400.

Yes of course the price will be up to Sony. You are throwing everything to see if anything sticks just to defend that Sony and MS are sending the same message on PS4Pro and X1X. Considering we are 4 years into the gen and baseline PS4 is still 300 I have very little reason to believe their top model to be 200. PS4Pro won't be the baseline system when PS5 comes by. PS5 will play its own game (unless Sony without at any point so far decides to abandon gen, but then it would be pointless to call it PS5).

PS4Pro won't ever be the main Ps4 system, even today it sell 1/5 of total PS4 sales. So PS5 being 3x Pro will be about 7x PS4. But as I said, 3x would be like the minimum in 3 years span. But it could easily be 5 or 6x more in a similar point in time. There would be no point releasing PS5 if there isn't a big gain, even more when MS is playing it with X1X at this moment and shouldn't release a new console so soon. So Really Sony have no rush to put PS5 and make it a small gain, MS is giving away any chance of putting pressure on PS4. So expect PS5 either when the jump is significant or when SW sales start to drop (as have been the golden rule every single gen), and if SW is decreasing then PS4Pro as baseline would also be silly and useless since it would be on declining.

Not sure what make you think I want sony to charge more than 400 for their next console, instead I am saying there is nothing making Sony charge for their next console at 400 bones.  Sony could decided that the PSVR needs to be bundled with the PS5.  They may come out with another device and decide it should be included along with the base hardware.  Since we have no information on what the PS5 will be, to believe it will be 400 or less is you believing you already know their plans before they actually announce it.  Sony has made or indicated what their plays are for their next system so lets just say that its up in the air until either leaked or announced.

Also base PS4 with pack in game is 250.  You are getting confused with the 1tb model with pack in game going for 300. By this holiday season you will probably get the 500gb version for 200 with pack in game and the 1tb version will be 250.

If Sony has no Rush to put out the PS5 then when do you expect them to release it.

Also why would the PS4 Pro not be the baseline in 3 to 4 years.  If the PS4 is the baseline now how would things change when the PS5 hit the market or are you saying the PS4 sline will remain the baseline.

Yes we don't know if they will bundle or not. But they would need to be pretty stupid after seeing WiiU and X1 bundling expensive add-ons and forcing people to pay more on the HW for it made.

From what I have official price is still 300 USD unbundled, but sure it's common to find bundled PS4 at 250. But yes it's possible that the base model get to 200 on black friday. That still doesn't make it the official price, and it have been 4 years since release.

Nope I'm saying PS5 will be the baseline, PS4 at perhaps 100-150 and PS4Pro at 250 (could be 200 or 300 who knows) will be legacy system selling for another 2 or 3 years as have been the case. But considering PS5 launching at 400 and being much more powerfull I don't see anyone that wants power to choose PS4Pro, so they would choose price, and that would be PS4Slim.

I expect PS5 at 2020, but that is dependent on Sony being able to make a big enough jump or SW sales declining.

You underestimate how stupid corporation can be when they are on top.  This is why its so interesting to see the direction companies go when they have a chance to reset.  Case in point would be Sony with the PS3, MS with the X1 and Nintendo with the WiiU.  We will see if Sony really learned anything or will they believe they can do no wrong and pull some dumb decision.

For the price of the PS4, I am going off of Amazon.  You can get the PS4 500Gb which is the very base model at 250, with a pack in game.  Go up to 1tb with pack in game its goes to 300 bones.  Just in case you are not from the US I am using US prices and location.

When I say baseline, I am talking price.  My prediction is that the PS5 will not be a next gen console.  It will be an extension of the PS4 line able to play PS4 games.  There will be no true exclusives in the sense that All games will need to be compatible with the PS4 Pro.  This will allow people with a base PS4 to move to the Pro with mininal effort in price if they do not want to go full hog with the PS5.  People looking for the best in class PS system can move straight to the 5.  This will allow Sony to sell their mid gen system and their premium system and keep a strong momentum in sales.

The reason why I do not see the slim as the base is because its not designed for 4K displays, it does not run VR games in the best situation.  In 2020, 4K displays will be the norm and thus the PS4 slim will not be a system people will be looking to purchase at that time.  People will be looking to take advantage of their new TVs and the Pro will be the entry level system for those people.

Ok I understand you are running your full argument based on assumptions over assumptions and sony making mistake after mistake. So there isn't really any point in discussing something that is purely fictional and wishfull thinking.

lol, we are all  making assumptions.  With lack of information everything we have said are opinions based on what we believe to be the outcome.  Not sure why you believe your opinion is based in fact but if you have some proof to back it up, I am very open to reading it.  If not, I then believe you probably should do the same as I and wait and see.

It just seems funny to me that people get married to their opinion as if its fact witout providing anything to back it up.  I clearly understand what I am saying is my opinion based on nothing more then how I see the market.

Background and history when we lack the future is the best way to form an opinion and post predictions.

So Sony saying PS4 wasn't their last gen (several times) preserve the idea of a new gen. And so far Sony have only launched new gens with a good upgrade of the HW and also that the previous HW wouldn't be able to play the same game (at least after the 1 or 2 years of transgen games).

So far Sony only once made a console launch for over 400 USD and saw that as a mistake.

Sony haven't yet even made a PSVR+PS4Pro official bundle, and never made any peripheric mandatory to play the core console. And have given lukewarm to decent support to Move and PSVR, so they aren't all in gimmicks. And also saw how much harm it done to X1 and WiiU.

All your opinion is based on multiple Sony fuck ups or doing things they never done before.

So what would be more expectable, to have Sony do every single mistake you think they will or that they won't make idiotic mistakes, worse yet repeated mistakes?

And still even if Sony made all those mistakes that would in no way shape or form make the message for X1X the same as PS4Pro.

Sony was clear PS4Pro better versions of PS4 games and better showing on PSVR.

MS also said X1X VR is exclusive to it and also that X1 will play the same games (but they won't mandate anyone to make the game run in both) and also that they are looking to end generations and to have play anywhere.

How is both messages the same?

Lucky's Tale is pretty good.
Not sure if it can go toe to toe with Mario without VR though.
