Forums - Gaming - EA could bring many more games to Switch if FIFA 18 performs well

EA’s first Switch game will be published next month. FIFA 18 will launch on the console along with other platforms on September 29. On the whole, early feedback has been quite positive.

EA’s future support on Switch could hinge on the performance of FIFA 18. Speaking to EDGE this month, executive vice president Patrick Söderlund noted that the company wants to support the platform “and help Nintendo grow that installed base”. He went on to say that “it”s about supporting the platform, building technology for the platform, testing it out with big things like FIFA – and maybe a couple of others, we’ll see – and if they go well, I see no reason why we shouldn’t have as much of our portfolio on that platform as possible.”

Söderlund stated:

“I’ve made people repeatedly, publicly aware that I’m a gigantic Nintendo fanboy. Nintendo was what got me into this industry in the first place. I take my Switch with me everywhere.”

“What I will say is, we will appear on any platform where there are consumers, and players. We believe that we want to be a part of the Switch, and help Nintendo grow that installed base; that’s why you’ll see FIFA, which by the way is really good this year. It’s a full-fledged FIFA game, for the first time to be honest, on a portable device.”

“But at the same time we have to look at it from a resource standpoint and, at some point, the numbers become a factor. So for us it’s about supporting the platform, building technology for the platform, testing it out with big things like FIFA – and maybe a couple of others, we’ll see – and if they go well, I see no reason why we shouldn’t have as much of our portfolio on that platform as possible. I hope we get there, that would be my personal ambition.”

Yeah, just like Capcom's tests. I still don't see EA porting anything more than the bare minimum, all their EA Sports games and maybe a subpar port of PvZ. Remember the "umprecedented partnership".

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Think I'll pick this game up. My first Fifa game since 2014!

NHL on Switch plz and I'll be happy.

Yes because if nobody buys a lazy downgraded X360 port with less content, it automatically means other EA games like The Sims will also sell bad.

They should make a sequel to Boom Blox. That game was fun. It would nice to play Boom Blox without having to take out my WIi everytime.

Tag:I'm not bias towards Nintendo. You just think that way (Admin note - it's "biased".  Not "bias")
(killeryoshis note - Who put that there ?)
Switch is 9th generation. Everyone else is playing on last gen systems! UPDATE: This is no longer true. 2nd UPDATE: I have no Switch 2. I am now behind

It'd be nice if we got Madden, NHL, and other games...but no, they'll abandon an entire system if one game doesn't do well

Bring NHL back on handleds !!! Last one was onPSP and that was 10 years ago !

.....I hope that Europeans are up for it. They buy most of the FIFA games as I recall.

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

I doubt FIFA 18 will sell more than 500k on the Switch.
