Forums - Nintendo - Something I've noticed in Splatoon matches

I've noticed with increasing frequency in Splatoon 2 matches that the losing team will have a player that has 0 points.  I've seen this on my own teams and on the opposing teams.  And always, the team with the 0 loses.  It makes sense.  3 against 4 means the other side has more people spraying ink and more chances to gang up on the other side.  I'm pretty sure that these are mostly cases where people dropped out because of bad internet connections.  That happened to me in my first ever match, which is why I reset the router every time I play now.  I know this is a common problem in online shooters, but I feel that it is worse in Splatoon because of the nature of the game and because the teams are so small.  Losing 25% of your team is an automatic loss every time it happens, and I've never seen a team good enough to win with only 3 players.

I don't know what can be done about it.  When my router works fine there's no problem and it runs silky smooth.  So I'm pretty sure the problem is with the individual internet connections and not on Nintendo's end.  But it's gotten to the point where if the other team is killing us nonstop and is frequently in our base area that I know we're down a player instead of being up against a much better team, and I'm almost always right when the results screen comes up.  And there's no satisfaction in dominating the other team when they are handicapped as well.

This happens to me a lot where people left during a match or who knows why they are not there anymore. Rarely, we even won a match with just 3 people vs 4 where the guy with 0 points got 1000 points.
It's far worse than on Splatoon 1. But I guess there is an issue with the WiFi connection on the Switch.
It seems that a local WiFi connection will still have disconnections.

What can be done about it? When it's 3 on 4, the team with three gets 4X movement, defense and offensive power with their weapons and ablities. Problem solved.

I am noticing that some weapons are much stronger than others.... and got splat in one shot....

Switch!!!

its the way the game treats the dropouts. the amount of ink you covered acts as the EXP and gold you earned for that round. When you force quit the game you dont get anything, which is why some players could have 0p of ink covered. it also doesnt retract kills when you quit either, and your kill count will still be displayed along with the 0p ink turfed. (thats a good way to distinguish in a player lost connection or rage quit)

one time i did actually win a game 3v4. it was in my final days of the original Splatoon and one of our guys quit in the middle of a match, but somehow we were able to beat them even being one man down. another memorable incident for me was when i was left in a 1v1 match after a server hiccup.

but luckily with Splatoon 2 they added a ragequit prevention system, so you can be banned from Splatoon 2 now if you drop out too often.

Wired connection, only had one disconnect in my 80 hours and its because I forced it.

Broken post sorry...text keeps disappearing...

Third time Ive typed this - I think the problem is the fact that you can't quit a match once you have select accept after the last match. if you could quit during the match making and player search screen then you would get far less 0 scoring players. I have accidently pressed accept when trying to skip through the score totals screens only to press accept when I meant to exit as I didn't have time to play another round. This is where the problem is in my view.

A team I was on actually managed to scrape a win even though we had a team mate less. Was quite exhilarating.

Just had a match in which 2 people dropped out so it was 2 on 4. I was wondering how we could be losing so badly when I was racking up a score of over 1000.
