Forums - Microsoft Discussion - How much does XB1X need to sell for it to be a success?

I think they went on record and said something like 50,000 this year. Or maybe it was 500,000.

Whatever it is, it's sure to reach it. With games like Crackdown 3, and Super Lucky Tale, nothing will stop the most powerful console on earth from beating sales records for 4k devices.

Idk, maybe at least 10-20% of total Xbox sales? I'm sure MS knows it's not going to be the go to Xbox people buy.

The Playstation 4 pro has sold about 3 million over an 8 month period if we assume it has kept the 20% attach rate Give or take a few percentages - it won't affect much because the difference between the sales marker of 63.3 million PS4's sold and the "20% of PS4's sold are pros" is less than a month between announcements .

Either way - considering the Xbox One X has a much bigger marketing campaign than the pro and it's much more pricey for Microsoft, i'd assume that 3 million by February of 2018 would be a huge success story, but it's more likely that a 6 month time frame would still be successful. I don't see the X being in a situation where it makes Microsoft lose money quite frankily.

What is PS4 selling now? That.
None of this "ratio of current Xbone sales" crap. "Not losing money" is not measure of success.
If Xbone sells like crap, that doesn't make selling X portion of crap any sort of success.
No baby game, junior league 2nd rate standards. If it outsells PS4, it wins, if it doesn't, it loses.
Who knows, maybe it will be the new champ... If not, another pretender that fails trying.

I think 1/5 is a good number to aim for.

That would be like 1.5m ~ 2m yearly. xD

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

So you're saying Xbox One X needs to sell as much as the PS4 to be considered a success? Ok then.

43 million lifetime.
