I was under the impression the current switch dock was nothing more than a piece of plastic holding the cables in place and providing the easy TV connection without affecting the console's power at all.

This is the same guy who teased Seasons of Heaven before it was announced. I would not trust him.

That's the billion dollar question right now. 

The dock gives the Switch a power bump making it slightly more powerful. That's why games like Splatoon 2 looks better docked than on handheld mode.

No it doesn't. The dock is just a big piece of plastic with outputs for usb/hdmi/power cables. The Switch runs in a low power mode when not docked in order to preserve battery life, when docked it is plugged in and so runs to its full capabtilities, the dock itself doesn't do anything. The dock is just a big adaptor, in fact you can even buy a third party adaptor that is the size of a normal adaptor dongle thing instead of using the dock. The dock simply holds the switch and connects it to power and the tv.

I've grown weary of SMD64 and the things he tends to "predict". He seems to have it out for the Switch because muh graphics, even though hardware wise the Switch is the most powerful it could be. And as for him saying that there would be 2 Metroid games, many people have been saying that for the past 3 years. Are they all of a sudden insiders now?

There's only so much you can do with ARM right now. Especially when you would have to transmit all data from the switch via USB 3.1 before it can be processed by whatever the hell would be in this super-duper-dock.

Not gonna happen.

Oh good, a super vague rumor that can be attributed to any announcement Nintendo makes! Without any details I can only see this as trying to take advantage of getting the Metroid predictions correct.

Because I just bought it, and if this is true, then Nintendo is expecting me to buy a hardware upgrade already in order to get the most out my system.  The thing isn't even a year old, so if Nintendo was planning on putting out a stronger dock, they should have included it from the getgo so that early adopters wouldn't be screwed out of more money if they want to play their games to their fullest potential.  I would be selling the system, because I wouldn't want to support the console if it's going to be on a constant hardware-upgrade model.  That's the point of owning a home console, is to know you'll be set for a few years with what you have and not have to worry about your hardware falling behind.

nVidia's been trying to push external GPU setups for a long while - but they largely haven't worked out from a value proposition standpoint. They're also kind of bulky.

Now if you adopt the Tegra X1 into an external GPU - it's smaller, cheaper and still  more power-efficient than your typical external GPU. All the same, you can double the Switch performance to nearly 2 TF in this way and gain AAA support. All with a simple dock upgrade.

Of course, titles that really need that extra power can't really be portable, but a Vita like remote play solution is still nice. I think they go for all-digital distribution model.

The same way Switch was a revision of the Shield tablet - so too nVidia/Nintendo will roll out products that have the spirit of other nVidia offterings like gamestream and external GPUs.
