Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So... something big 'apparently' appears to be coming from Nintendo

A simplified voice chat that's the equivalent of sony and ms?

Seriously, I take this sort of stuff with a grain of salt even though they sometimes pan out.

He's more reliable with his software claims than his hardware ones.

Well of course the biggest card hasn't been played yet.
Where is my Retro Studios title?

Well let's see what this ends up being if it anything

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Given that this thing just came out, and I just got my hands on one last month, I'd be pretty pissed off if a hardware upgrade came out already. If Nintendo is going to be putting out hardware replacements at such a fast rate, I'll probably end up just selling my console and not bothering with it.

Why in the world would that make you sell the system?!?! That's just bizarre. Are xbox and ps3 owners saying they will just get rid of their system because of pro and X? No, because that doesn't make any sense. A hardware upgrade in no way affects you. It just gives more options.

I think there will definitely be a Switch Lite (perhaps with no joycons and sells with no dock, but that can still connect to a separately sold dock for the hybridness) and a Switch XL or whatever that fills in the blank bezels on the system with more screen real estate and has updated chip for more efficiency and higher battery life with bigger harddrive too.

Now the final different version of Switch they could do would of course be a more powerful home console half of the hybrid-system, and making a performance enhancing dock would be the best way to do this. Don't know if this will ever happen but it would be cool. The only question is how would developers handle it. Obviously every game would still need to be able to play on all the Switch versions, so I imagine improved performance would be pretty narrowly handled. Like higher framerate, though most Switch games already are 60fps, or higher resolution (2k?/4k?) or maybe developer could simply switch on some extra graphical effects when in performance enhancing dock. The piece of plastic dock is already absurdly priced when sold separately at $90, i bet it probably costs like $10 to make, so if they'd have to seriously adjust their dock pricing because no way should an upgraded dock cost more than $150.

Still though, dock upgrade could be Nintendo's 4k answer to ps4 pro and xbox one x, if it was used primarily to upgrade resolutions in tv mode. And it would be a much better upgrade option for Switch owners than ps4 and xbox owners who have to buy a whole new even more expensive console. I don't know how much hardware it would take to boost Switch games to 4k, but since all it would need to do is boost resolution, while the Switch itself handles the rest, and Switch graphics will still be the same, it should be wayyyyyy cheaper than sony and MS 4k options. In a year I could see a $150 4k Switch dock be feasible that just includes extra RAM, more cpu power, and a fan.

This also could give consumers all sorts of pricing options which would be good as long as its not too confusing. Could one day buy a cheap Switch Lite handheld, or original Switch with original dock, or original Switch with 4k dock, or Switch XL with original dock, or Switch XL with 4k dock.

Though even if they do come out with this, it won't be anytime soon. Nothing new will come out until Nintendo can double their Switch production in order to meet demand.

I really hope not, it's way too soon for that.

Given that Nintendo is struggling to put the Switch in its current iteration on store shelves...
I'm going to have to ask them to have several seats...

Have a nice day...

Tegra SLI out of the question?

Actual Switch shipments? Hey ooooooooh
