Forums - Sales - Blu-rays sale percentage tracking

Shouldn't we have the 13th's sales already? Anyone got a source?

BTW - I've seen mass blu-ray marketing blitz on TV. The Angelina Jolee movie where shes an assassin and the dark knight were on ALL day. And the didn't show or mention DVD's and talked about blu-ray features. It may shape up to be a successful Christmas for the format. Whyyyy too many people jumping on the "Blu-ray sales suck" bandwagon and you know who I'm talking about.

i think you're confusing the "blu ray sucks bandwagon" with the don't care about blu ray bandwagon because i don't need it, and the blu ray isn't doing as good as some people are saying bandwagon.  That doesn't mean it sucks, it means not everybody wants it.  It's a luxury item, get it if you really want it.  Personally I can find much better uses for my money than that.

2 weeks most likely. And it will only get better than 11/16.

Johnsobas maw blu-ray is doing fine. A lot of people on these forums like to try and call it the next laser disc/mini disc/umd and say it's struggling. Looks like its putting up fantastic numbers to me.

what does that have to do with it sucking?  There is nothing wrong with laser disc/mini disc/umd.

The influx of HDTVs this holiday season will likely boost BD to new heights. Im wagering itll be nothing spectacular, but BD advances, slowly but surely, despite the price difference.

Yeah I hope your right.

Obviously, HDTV's sales are vital to HD players' success.

I'm hoping that people will still fork out for both the TV and BR player this holiday season though.

Folks looking to go HD have to fork out for those and probably a sound processor too, so a tripple whammy to fork out for.

I'm still hoping for the best though!

PriceGrabber.com(R), a part of Experian, today revealed that economic conditions motivate value-driven consumers which lead to an 11 percent increase in traffic year-over-year on Black Friday. Data from PriceGrabber.com shows that online consumers are taking advantage of promotions on popular electronics including: LCD and Plasma TV's, Blu-Ray Disc Players, Digital SLR Cameras, Laptops, and Video Game Consoles.

"Prior to the Black Friday weekend, 71 percent of shoppers intended to spend less money this holiday season compared to last year and 66 percent planned to give practical gifts," said Ron LaPierre, president of PriceGrabber.com. "Thanksgiving and Black Friday traffic shows that value drives consumer spending. Consumers are responding to aggressive promotions and price drops on popular electronics."

Top 10 Categories and Percent Growth over Black Friday 2007

1. Women's Boots - 203%
2. Watches - 202%
3. Blu-ray/HD-DVD Players - 147%
4. Women's Sleep & Lounge Wear - 415%
5. Games & Puzzles - 151%
6. Women's Jackets - 110%
7. Music - 96%
8. Headphones - 103%
9. Women's Dresses - 107%
10. Women's Casual Shoes - 143%

Nothing exciting... but still its a decent jump... and if we consider that last black friday HD DVD players had many $99 deals, and sold 2:1 better than Blu Ray players than this means Blu Ray player sales are really climbing..
