So I should be praising them for selling me a product that makes me question why I didn't just buy a gaming PC?

Remember how everyone was up in arms 4 years ago about not being able resell games on the Xbox One?
Yeah, me neither.

What would be the point of competing if all exclusives became multiplat? Eventually only one brand would matter and you would force the mass population to think based on specs rather than what the company makes that or provides which makes them happy. There's a point where pro consumer wholly becomes anti business. |
The point of competing would be to get more cosumers and money. Not so sure that only one brand would matter. People would still prefer a controller, interface, network, etc. compared to the other. Also the entry price for each.

Win 10 gamers. Don't you mean steam/pc gamers? Also they wouldn't care about a redundant inferior service that's more anti-consumer than what they use already. |
No, I meant Win 10 gamers. You asked "Who really cares if X1 games are playable on win 10 or not" (I'm assuming this was a question despite not having a '?' at the end) and I answered the obvious answer: Win 10 gamers.
| Aeolus451 said: So what's so wrong with what would have been an exclusive X1 title being ported to PC? It devalues the xbox console. Pretty basic stuff. |
But the games in question don't then become unplayable on XBox 1 just because they've been ported to PC. What value is being lost?

There's no point in investing in something that doesn't have as many features as a service compared to an overall better service that's the established method for pc gamers to play (steam). |
Nice additional option to have regardless.
Here's to Microsoft becoming more competitive against Steam in the near future.

Yeah. Should help make the decision to whether or not to buy an X1 easier.

This would only benefit Microsoft because their deficiencies would no longer be exposed. If that's what they wanted they should've stayed with PC. There is a tradition on consoles. All brands have had to eventually rise to the occasion and have competent first party. Nintendo has always had first party to survive, and sega has always had great first party but had to make more because Nintendo had the lionshare of the third party in the genesis era. Sony had decent first party but Microsofts existence forced gen to build their first party into a great force to differentiate from the competition. Microsoft is still doing nothing in their third gen. Either that or they are just inept.

It devalues the Xbone to the tiny portion of people who game on consoles and happen to have a gaming computer. People playing console warz would have you believe this is a large group of people, yet MicroSony never seems to mind signing console exclusive deals and plastering on the game boxes how their console is the only console you can play these games on. They don't care if you play on PC.
Of course, speaking of console warz, it also devalues the Xbone to loads of console warriors who were never going to buy the console in the first place and instead use the Play Anywhere initiative as a means to minimize the platform. All the while, singing the praises of exclusive games that sell fractions of what the actually important games sell :)

Willful ignorance or pretending to be ignorant? Your questions by yourself and your points can be rebuttaled by things I posted earlier in response to you.

It wasn't a question but since you took it as one, might as well go with it. It doesn't matter what you meant because win 10 gamers don't exist in the way you mean it. They are pc gamers even if they are using win 10 as their OS and they're likely using steam so they won't miss something they don't use.
But the games in question don't then become unplayable on XBox 1 just because they've been ported to PC. What value is being lost?
Xbox loses it's value to consumers because there's nothing exclusive to that console so in other words, a consumer can buy a PS4 and upgrade their pc if they really want to play one or two xbox games, they won't be missing out on anything.

It's not a "nice" option. It won't become competitive against steam by not allowing mods. It's the same as shooting yourself in the foot before the race starts or during the race. The gaming market could use the mercy rule if there was such a thing.

It's not criticism. Their box simply doesn't offer anything that a PC can't do or play better at this point so i'll stick to PC + PS4 as a combo for this generation.

not in europe.... till now you can play nintendo games online (multiplayer) without any monthly fees... same was till PS4...
To OP:
It's not good for XBOX in my opinion to make exclusive available on PC... then it makes no sense at all to buy a XBOX... so less XBOX sold, less exclusive...

Unless the Microsoft games are also coming to Steam over time which is a good thing. The more available these games are, the better.

But the XBox 1 still has value since it can still play games, exclusive or not.
This is a net good because some don't care for PC gaming or think it too expensive or complicated and others just prefer console gaming over PC gaming for whatever reason. For those consumers, the XBox has value. For those who do care about PC gaming, XBox 1 losing exclusives to PC means less need to buy an XBox. Money saved can be used to upgrade a PC or buy games or buy a PS4 since now one doesn't need an XBox to play XBox games.
I find this arrangement grants the consumer more room for maneuver.

So you prefer a game only being available on a single platform versus that game being made available on more than one therefore giving people more choice?

That's why I said "Here's to Microsoft becoming more competitive against Steam in the near future". If that means Microsoft reversing any restrictions they might have on mods then so be it.
That would be great wouldn't it?
