Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Seems that Platinum Games is teasing Bayonetta 1+2 for Switch

Nintendo does realize half of the games on Switch are already on Wii U right? How long are they gonna continue with this?

Any Wii U game can probably easily run on the Switch.

Wii U didnt sell alot of units, so if the Switch goes onto do so, it makes sense to port these games, so a broader audience can get a chance at them.

Its probably "easy" compaired to trying to port a PS4/XB1 multiplat, thats anything above a indie game.

Also Nintendo doesnt seem to have put its full efforts behinde the switch yet, they are still doing stuff for the 3DS.

So the quick & easy way to build up the library is like this, and its better than software droughts.

Also whats wrong with haveing ports? nothing.

I hope they decide to port "Xenoblade Chronicles" & "Xenoblade Chronicles X" too for the Switch.

That way you can play XC, XCX, XC2 all on the same console.

Stuff like this (being able to play a entire series you enjoy) on a system, will result in people picking up a unit.

Bayonetta 1,2,3 for the Switch, yes please.

For you, maybe. For me it's a big deal. The current/upcoming Switch software line-up is already very weak and now rumors are saying even more developers including Nintendo are working on more ports for Switch. This takes up a lot of time and manpower that could be working on new high quality games. Now it will take even longer for Switch to create a unique library. I'm not buying a 320 euro console with last-gen hardware to replay games I've already played for hundreds of hours on the previous console.

So many things wrong in this post. The current/upcoming Switch software line-up is easily one of strongest for any Nintendo console ever in 1st year (in 1st 10 monts more accurate). Ports doesn't take a lot time and manpower compared to new games, actually ports can be done in few months, new games usually requires 2-3 years. Switch regardles few Wii U ports this year will still have a unique games, Snipperclips, ARMS, Splatoon 2, Mario x Rabbids, Mario Oddysey, Xenoblade 2...reality is that Nintendo is porting only 2 Wii U games this year, MK8D and Pokken Tournament DX, while Zelda BotW is brand new game with dual release.

Odyssey and X2 are the only games right now I really look forward to. It's absolutely not worth it to buy a Switch for two games that aren't released yet and we barely know anything about the games releasing in 2018. They weren't even able to show some Pokemon and Metroid gameplay. And it will take a year of not years for Switch to get a lot of big and new games if everybody is working on ports at this moment. Digital Foundry said Nintendo is working on even more ports and now apparently Platinum is working on 2/3 ports.

What are you personally looking forward and for what games you think Switch is worth to buy is totally different thing, my talk was far more objective.

Again, ports are fast and cheap, and they are quite often done buy 3rd party teams outsde Nintendo (or Sony), it's not like instead of port you could get new game. Also you dont need DF, Nintendo itself said they are considering more Wii U games for Switch. Platinum did tease 3 ports but they also did said they are working on “Interesting” Nintendo Switch game. At end, ports doesn't mean there are not new games, Nintendo released or announced until now around 13 new Switch games, while they announced only 2 real Wii U ports. With some remasters of great Wii U games Switch lineup is stronger and more diverse, even some Wii U owners would buy those remasters because they are definitive versions and they offer full handheld play (that alone is game changer for some people), its win-win situation in any case.

Gamecube had an exclusive Zelda. And an exclusive Mario Kart.

So what!? Nobody rally cares because Zelda BotW and MK8D are ported to Switch, actually huge majority of people are happy because of that, that was very expected and logical move from Nintendo. Do you realise that you are only person here on site that keep bragging because Nintendo is porting Wii U games on Switch, because of that you act like they killed your family, chill out man.

People who bought a Wii U and Nintendo fans should care. By porting Zelda to Switch they shat on the Wii U owners and destroyed their legacy as a company that always made excellent consoles (and don't mention the Virtual Boy, it was just an experiment).

Err... no.

Did Sony destroy their legacy with porting The Last of US to the PS4? Or Shadow of Colossus from the PS2 to the PS3 and now a remake on PS4? Or the various Kingdom Heart ports? Or did Sega when they ported some of their Master System titels to Genesis and really one could go on for every major publisher that has had more then one hardware device. The fact is porting to new hardware is a normal facet of software publishing.

In the end, time will tell if the strategy works, but so far they aren't doing too bad. Although personally, I do not believe Xenoblade Chronicles X needs to be ported, due to the nature of the game's story seemingly being incomplete anyway with no follow up planned or revealed as of yet.

PS2 and PS3 had massive libraries and tons of games weren't ported. Most Master System games weren't ported either. It's fine to port games, but a Nintendo system without an exclusive Zelda or an exclusive Mario Kart is garbage. And only companies with no business making games make bad consoles. They should have axed the Wii U right after launch but instead they lied to people promising actual support.

The while the library of games will end up quite small, the vast majority of Wii U games aren't going to be ported either. But just because a system failed does that mean its games should regulated to after thoughts of history even if they don't have to? The Dreamcast failed but most people enjoyed being able to get some of the nicer games for that platform on another console. In comparison the Saturn failed and most never have gotten the opportunity to play some of the classics on that system and would love to see them moved to another device.

So far we have Breath of the Wild, which is getting the same treatment as Twilight Princess and the GC - Wii launch got, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which is getting all the previous DLC plus a few new features such as the splatoon kids and Pokken Tournament, which is getting the arcade updates that were never added to the original home release. They tried to make it work for 3.5 years but could not do it, they thought the 3rd party support would help pick things up, it didn't and so they brought out a successor.

They did the same thing with Game Boy Color, which life was shorten so they could release the GBA to stay competitive with handhelds that came out in Japan. Same thing happened to the GBA for the DS which had a shorter run then it probably was intended to so they could compete on a closer playing field with the PSP. The Switch was done because they really needed to stay competitive and despite a good run with the Wii they were still having trouble doing so on their home consoles because of lack of third party support. So merge home and handheld together and hope to inherit all the 3DS and Vita market that is more valuable in Japan and home to indie titles that can help flesh out the calander. As a Wii U owner it does sort of suck but it is part of business and literally every company that releases hardware would do the same.

What do you mean by "actual support?"
