And suddenly, we might have a great glimmer of hope next week !

Not interested in indie games, at least not 99% of them, but hopefully this means the proper Direct next week is real.

I'm going to say it:
New Paper Mario game and some kind of Pikmin game will be announced next direct. Also, they will show off the new Monolith Soft IP

Well, the direct of the indies seems to confirm the rumor of the Nintendo Direct general for next week.

I hope that the 6-month wait is more than justified and there are not only news about video games but also about the console interface, themes and other things. I am still waiting for the exclusive offers for NSO members.

A trophy system would also be a nice addition.

That's what they all say at first...

It isn't, and given Curl's not-so-secret taste in games, I'd be hard-pressed to find a single reason for him to enjoy something like Animal Crossing.

Not getting my hopes up for a Direct, by the way, but it has to happen at some point soon. With no major releases having a date beyond Animal Crossing, it feels inevitable that it'll come in the next few weeks.

You know me well. :)

Honestly it just looks like it would bore me out of my mind. I'd rather be playing something like Doom Eternal.

It's weirdly entertaining.  Especially in a period of potential social distancing and isolation.  A calm, safe, life simulator is going to be just the right thing for several million people who never knew they needed it real soon.

I'm sure it will be immensely appealing and helpful for millions of people. I just don't think I'll be one of them.

Well well, a new Switch game announcement I'm actually interested in, for the first since... shit, since E3 I think.

While I've heard mixed things about Blair Witch as a game, the film is one of my all time favorites and I'm really into the lore the filmmakers built around it. If it's a decent port I might give it a go.

A blast from the past: id didn't plan on bringing the original Doom to the SNES and didn't think it was possible.

Another dev called Sculptured Software decided to reverse engineer a port on their own initiative and sent off the result to id, who were impressed and agreed to get it published.

If you like neat retro stories like this, Digital Foundry has a number with the DF Retro series.  For example, this one about Doom's ports:  https://youtu.be/784MUbDoLjQ
