Smash Direct on the 8th get hyped

I would have preferred a more general Direct, but at least we're getting some news!

Ugh, more Smash, Smash, Smash. I get that it's their heavy hitter for the year, but would it kill them to actually announce some actual NEW games, (high quality games, not the B/C tier filler they've been feeding us for the past 8 months) their lineup for the rest of the year (and almost certainly the first half of 2019) is anemic as hell.

Aside from Wii U's 2016, there hasn't been a year with so little content worth buying on a Nintendo console since Wii's 2012.

No, it gets worse with starting positions that heavily favor the enemies.

Yeah, the starting positions are questionable. I just got done a map where I faced 2 of the antagonists and a rando. My whole team was scattered at 3 points of the map. 1/3 of my team was useless because all 3 of the guys made a beeline for Alm and the rest of my team was too far away to do anything. So the starting positions get worse from there too?!

Also, the EXP gains become so abysmal that you'll rarely get the satisfaction of a level up. You'll kill hundreds of enemies that net your characters 1-4 EXP. Echoes is easily the worst console Fire Emblem game that has been released outside of Japan.

Yeah, i'm feeling this now. I've gained so little experience during battles that I thought I was over leveled or something, Not to mention even when I do level up, the stat boosts are abysmal.

The story and presentation is good, but everything concerning  gameplay is pretty bad tbh. I'll take my waifu's, good gameplay and incredibly mediocre story over this Fire Emblem anyday. Ah well i'll just power through it.

The game's final dungeon is actually pretty awesome, well worth getting too! Some tips to help you through:

-Gold Knights are meh, basically just inferior Falcon Knights, and Barons are obsoleted by Steel Shield. Don't recommended using them more than you have to.
-Didn't get any on my playthrough but I hear Dread Fighters are OP. Saints, Bow Knights, and Sages w/ Mage Rings I know are uber good.
-Make sure all units you want to use have 37 or more HP by the endgame. Mistake I learned the hard way, but didn't matter cause lol turnwheel.
-Killer Bow is laughably broken, and Iron Lance is actually the best lance except Clair w/ Gradivus.
-When you get to that point, make Alm the leader, you know he's naturally less likely to die. :L

Nah, that's just the RNG fucking you up xD

Also, if you never took the time to check it up. The map design is kind of a copy-paste from the original Gaiden so it comes with it's cons.

But otherwise this game is superior in every other way and since it was my first FE back then before playing FE7. The gameplay while sometimes hectic or not rewarding enough was still far more enjoyable than what've I tried from FE Awakening ... but that's just an opinion.

Growth rates actually are just that bad in the game. Thankfully promoting brings your unit's stats up to par, and there's a lot of stat boosters so the bad levels don't matter. Also, you enjoyed the Cantors?

I think what was said is that the game is on a cartridge but the expansion pass coming with it is on a download code in the box.

The wording is just so ambiguous, it's really annoying haha. I really, really want to get it on a cartridge because I have like 6.7GB left on my Switch's internal storage and I don't want to shell out for a microSD card just yet.

I don't find it ambiguous at all personally.  Now that they've established that it is a standalone version, no need for XC2, there's no reason at all to think it's a download code.

Cost saving? It's cheaper to put a plastic card with a code on it in the box than it is to manufacture a cart.

Those savings are pretty negligible relative ro the sum cost of bringing the game to shelves.  If they aren't going to put it on a cart, they get even better savings - far better, since the biggest cost for them by a mile is the retailer cut - and dodge bad PR by just doing a digital release.
