I have not. It's too expensive for what little content it has compared to the base game of Mario Kart 8 DX. Where's Bob-Omb Blast? Where's Coin Runners? And why are most of the playable characters just random Mario enemies and NPCs haphazardly thrown in?

Firstly: Why are we judging the value of a game based on numbers? Should it not be the case that a game's price is justified by its gameplay loop? I don't care if a game features 200 race tracks if the game itself is far inferior to the one which features 40. Play the game yourself before going off on a several-year-long crusade.

But even then, if I were to play ball with you: Explain how MKWorld has less content than MK8DX, because while MKWorld has 40 tracks (16 original, 14 returning, and 10 new tracks were added with the latest update) compared to MK8DX's 96, it is simply the case that MKWorld has a larger roster (50 versus 48), MKWorld retains all the Grand Prix & Time Trial modes from MK8DX, MKWorld includes an open world to roam around and complete hundreds of mini-game objectives in (whereas MK8DX features no unique single-player experience), the soundtrack from MKWorld is vastly expanded upon with far more original (and, I'd argue, much higher quality) music than that of MK8DX, and introduces a complete overhaul on the traditional MarioKart gameplay loop, allowing for an entirely new dimension of gameplay via parkour mechanics (whereas MK8DX follows directly in line with all preceding entries of the franchise besides the new coin and anti-gravity mechanics). Additionally, I don't see how the roster of MK8DX (with all the Koopalings, Pink Gold Peach, baby characters, and so forth) is any better than MKWorld (which features an entirely original cast of characters, though with some wacky/wild inclusions like the Baby Penguin from Mario 64 lol).

This in addition to a much stronger graphical and technical (4K, consistent 60FPS) performance, I cannot see how you could argue MK8DX justifies its price tag over MKWorld, especially when I've included all the Booster Course content in this comparison. That's an $85USD MK8DX going against an $80USD MKWorld which is still recieving free updates to this day.

Edit- Also, Bob-Omb Blast is in MKWorld.

I'm Team MK8DX > MK World!

As of typing, so too am I, though I'd imagine that'll change once 200CC is brought into World. I just haven't gotten fully accustomed to the gameplay loop of World versus the familiarity of MK8DX. Once Nintendo drops 200CC, then I'll have given the game more of a shot to fully decide whether I prefer one over the other.

My problem with MKW is just that I don't think any of the major changes are for the better.

Do I prefer 24 player races to 12? No.
Do I like intermission tracks? No.
Do I think the openworld makes the game better? No
Do I like the wall jumping and rail grinding? No

Despite that it's still an 8.5/10 game at least, it's just MK8DX is pretty much perfect to me and has far more content currently.

A big expansion for MKW will bring me back but man I paid a massive £75 for a physical copy and it just didn't hit me lol.

Preach!

Sometimes, less is more. World feels too big as a kart racer. Unless you're constantly stuck in the middle of the pack, the areas are so large that I found myself bored, to the point where I would intentionally just stay in the middle to have fun due to the chaos lol.

MK8DX on the other hand, the narrower, constantly turning roads make for a more consistently fun experience. Anti-grav areas don't make that much of a difference, but the tracks feel way more unique and fun due to the varying amount of changes made. The free roam mode felt incredibly lackluster in World. After an hour of roaming around, doing the occasional challenge, I was done lol.

I will give props to the music of World though! Great stuff!

I just think MK8DX perfected the traditional Mario Kart formula, so Nintendo felt the need to change things up.

Granted, we're only a year in, so I'm willing to give Nintendo the benefit of the doubt that they got something big cooking.

MKW is better tbh going back to MK8 after it feels stiff and restrictive.

We going with technical improvements automatically makes games better? lol

I primarily go by fun factor. Which MKW is fun in its own right, but it has not usurped MK8D imo.

Have to admit I was really disappointed with the Bloober Team Switch 2 exclusive game. Was hoping for something like Cronos and Silent Hill 2 remake, but we are getting a very indie looking touch screen game. Meh...

Restrictive is not just a technical point, go watch the many MKW videos where people are highlighting the open ended way to race through the tracks allowing players to be more expressive in how they race in the game for many that is far more fun and just better.

That therein lies the problem. It's a kart racer. It doesn't need to be open ended to have fun. For me, it's just cool. Doesn't make it more fun or better. Sometimes, less is more.

This aligns more with my earlier statement that MK8D perfected the traditional formula, so I do commend Nintendo for breaking down the barrier and trying something new, and I'm anxious to see what Nintendo has planned to further improve World next year.

Fun is an ad hoc definition anyway, so it's not something you nor I can firmly claim. Both games are at least coexisting as sales continue to be very close. And with the recent Switch 2 update, it seems like Nintendo knows there are a lot of players who still prefer MK8D. Not something Nintendo will complain about. They're making money either way.
