GBA game for $20 instead of being free on NSO with the rest. Of course it will sell because it's Pokémon but FFS Nintendo.

(i) Isn’t this what everybody is always asking for? The ability to purchase Virtual Console titles outside of the NSO subscription service? I think it’s good Pokémon Co is offering these titles on the eShop. Could also be that these two games will be coming to NSO later this year/alongside the eShop releases.

(ii) Hmm… complaining about pricing when it comes to video game products is something that has rubs me in a weird way. This is an inessential consumer good— not an essential product e.g. the rent to your home, food from the grocery store, etc. If $20USD is too much for you, then don’t buy. It’s not for you. Nobody is entitled to a free/inexpensive video game.

Didn't you just post yesterday Mario Tennis shouldn't cost as much as it does and Nintendo shouldn't charge the same for AA as AAA? Yes games are a luxury, doesn't mean you can't say something is priced wrong or bad. Though my main complaint isn't the $20, it's that Nintendo offer a higher tier subscription for retro games which I pay for and suddenly they have decided the best GBA game won't be included and will cost extra.

No I'm not entitled to free video games, though I was under the assumption that my paid for subscription did entitle me to their GBA catalogue.

Charging 20 dollars for a GBA ROM without any additional features except Pokémon Home compatibility is being 200% greedy. Especially when GBA were 8 dollars each on the Wii U eShop. There's nothing that justifies this.

And demanding that “This first-world product should be free in my NSO subscription!” is 200% entitlement. Again, it’s a video game made by Pokémon Co. They aren’t just gonna start handing out old games that they put their blood, sweat, and tears into for free— I wouldn’t expect you to labor for others totally void of compensation. If 20 bones is too much, move along and let the people who are interested consume in peace. I know I sure as heck will either wait for NSO or just download the ISO on my PC.

This is a monkey paw version of what people were asking. First, this is a single GBA game that is not even on NSO (and let's face it, it will never be there as long as they can charge 20 dollars for it). People want the ability to purchase every retro game, not just one. Second, the price is way too high for what you are getting, especially considering that GBA games on Wii U costed 8 dollars. This is a 2.5 times increase in price just because. And third: just because something is not an essential good doesn't mean it's always fairly priced or that its price should not be discussed or criticised. This is a video game forum (focused on sales, mind you), and as such, every aspect of video games should be discussed by their users.

Yes but it’s not because anything to do with greed— it’s more that I want these Nintendo products to sell well. I want Switch 2 to succeed, and if pricing is getting in the way of this reality, then please lower the price. Meet the market better. I never said consumers don’t have a reason to complain about pricing, but that the complaints based in the rationale of feeling entitled to the product rub me weird.

Also, how do you know it won’t be included in NSO? You don’t think they’d offer both options?

I already replied to you.

Also, it's hilarious that you are mocking me for being "entitled", when you are talking about the "blood, sweat and tears" (lol) Game Freak spent like... 22-23 years ago? I mean, talk about hyperbole xD

Shall I remind you that GBA games were 8 dollars on the Wii U? You don't seem to adress that. I don't want the games for free. I already have the games for free (who hasn't emulated an old Pokémon game before). But we can still discuss if the price is fair or not. Shutting down the discussion just because we are not talking about water, milk or vegetables is silly and dumb.

Also also... GBA games are ROMs. Not ISOs.

BTW I won’t be arguing beyond what I’ve already said. I only intended to share some thoughts of mine. I hadn’t even seen the other posts in this forum— just so happened this was a contentious topic of discussion at the time of posting.

All I'm gonna say about price is, it's Pokémon Fire Red, it aged like fine wine and it's easily still worth a Silksong.

If you haven’t already, consider checking out Demon Tides. New indie platformer from the devs behind the upcoming Bubsy 4D. Currently sits at 84OC— one of the highest rated 3D platformers of the generation.

And Happy 40th to The Legend of Zelda! Franchise blossomed this past decade. Cannot wait for what the future of this series holds!!

My opinion on Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green is pretty much my opinion every time people complain about prices in gaming.

It's not food. It's not water. It's not housing. It's not medicine. It is a luxury product.

It's fine if you don't like the pricing but acting like the Pokemon Company and Nintendo are doing something immoral is just silly. Save your outrage for things that actually matter.

For me personally, I'm going to definitely buy Fire Red. Maybe even both versions down the line. The ability to play on the go, not having to worry about the save battery, and integration with Pokemon Home make this the best version to play. And for the price of a burrito and chips, a movie and popcorn, 4 comic books, like 3 character costumes in Street Fighter 6. I'm fine with paying. I'm pretty sure out of the ways I could potentially spend 20 bucks, this is one of the ones that I'll get more happiness out of.
