Have you been looking out for Cranky Kong?

I found him and Rambi in the hilltop layer but can’t reach him so I gave up

edit: just looked it up, I’ll try it again when I play the game later today

You have to look for him everywhere. It's not always easy to find him.

Giving OCt0 a go while taking a break from MP4, much slower starting than the prior two games which just drop you in the scenario and you're good to go after 5-10 minutes.

Found this to be neat! Nothing major, but it’s always cool to hear how these devs work to make their games.

I’m gonna do a thread maybe later this week/month on this— So far, what would you consider to be your top two favorite Nintendo Switch 2 first-party titles/exclusives released this year? Options:
- Nintendo Switch 2: Welcome Tour
- DragXDrive
- MKWorld
- DKBananza
- Hades II
- Pokémon Legends Z-A
- Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment
- Kirby Air Riders
- Metroid Prime 4: Beyond

For me, personally? It’s razor thin between Kirby Air Riders and MKWorld. I’m not a massive fan of the open world aspect of MKWorld, the P-switch missions, nor the current cast of playable characters, but I absolutely adore everything else about this game! The racing feels very fresh, and is a massive expansion of gliding & driving on walls mechanics seen in MK8Deluxe. The time trials and technique are also going utterly insane ATM (if you haven’t watch the most recent WR time trials, I highly recommend you do so). This game has the potential to easily become my favorite MK game: all that’s left is (i) fix the character selection (add more characters, don’t make costumes take up an entire slot on the many), (ii) allow for traditional online play (or make the intermission courses a bit less straight-forward), (iii) add 200cc, and (iv) pump up that course count!

As for Kirby Air Riders? The highs aren’t as high as MKWorld, but the lows are non-existent. This game achieves exactly what it sets out to do with very very few blemishes! I am absolutely hooked on the gameplay loop, and there is no “boring” nor “tedious” gameplay design decisions unlike in MKWorld. That said… it’s a very tough call for me.

I still lean toward MKWorld, but I need some extra time to think on it. Very competitive year for my GotY pick!

DK Bananza and Beyond are my pick for the top two first party titles this year, DK is a great alternative approach to the 3D platforming we get from Mario while Beyond is second best Prime game tbh.

Great idea for a thread, I look forward to it. I think I'll hold my thoughts on it til then.

It has been a good year for Ninty though; as someone who first played Tropical Freeze and MK8 on Wii U in 2014, getting a new DK and Mario Kart, something Switch 1 never got, was a dream come true.

For all those playing MP4:Beyond looking for further validation that critics aren’t the end-all, be-all…
