Forums - Sony - For PS4 Pro gamers who might feel discouraged about their purchase after seeing the Xbox One X

In my last post, I touched in a subject much in the vein of abstaining from being involved in console refreshes for this gen. Enough money was spent, but after seeing so many videos post E3 of new content revealed by developers I did a little bit of reflecting. Playstation 4 gamers are looking at a similar situation to last generation where Sony's first party is ramping up. Microsoft will have  the superior multiplats for their minor few (like you with Sony) who have decided to make the upgrades. Your advantage, however, is that you will get an abundance of exclusives that make use of your 4k Checkerboard rendering. When you see the new God of War or Spiderman, these games are going to be glowing brilliantly on a 4k screen and pushing the console to its fullest. Sure, Microsoft will have some exclusives...but you will have quite a few shining examples of what it means to push even the premium platform to its limit (given you take advantage of the resolution/framerate options the base model just doesnt have). Sucker Punch still has not shown off their exclusive, but if we know Sony devs they have secrets based on trickery (That they learned from Naughty Dog) that will push the console or work their way around bottlenecks. Its not about the true 4k...because true 4k is next gen. Just like the PS3...its about having an abundance of exclusives that push the platform and for Sony its their known and trusted developers which push this truth home. I wont be able to join you, but the standard PS4 exclusives will look amazing regardless.

I don't see why they would feel discouraged to be honest.

They don't have Xbox's for a reason. The XBX doesn't fix any of those reasons unless they got a PS4 for power.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

I've always argued games first, specs second. I love my PS4 for its library, it'd be nice to see higher frame rates or resolutions, but honestly games such as Infamous, Uncharted, and Horizon have all had jaw dropping moments for me and I content with how they look on my 4K television. I passed on the Pro because of this, and I'm fine waiting for the PS5 in 2020 to finally spend more money on hardware.

I don't think those people exist.

To be disappointed they would have had to:
Gotten the ps4 pro, and been disappointed with it.
Want the X1X and be ok with that amount of power jump.
Not gotten a more powerful PC.
Not have upgraded their PC with the $500 they would have spent on the X1X.
and Been ok with the huge difference in amount of games.

That is a very small amount of gamers.

Well I am addressing a small crowd. Ive also heard many people say that the upgrade to the pro is not worth it. I was only giving examples why it is as the major exclusives selection widens.

There are tech enthusiasts out there who do buy these consoles. I've seen them outside of vgchartz so I thought I would address it.

Why should anyone be disappointed about it because of the XBOX?

The PS4 Pro is the best way to play PlayStation games. The same way the XBOX will be the best way to play most multiplat games.

I didn't buy a PS4 Pro to play games in their best versions.

I bought a PS4 Pro to play PlayStation games in their best versions.

If I wanted the best versions of multiplatform games, I would have bought a better video card instead of a Pro.

I have a PS4 Pro and thought I am not disappointed with it, it also has not excited me as well. The main issue is that it just seems like Sony short the neccessary changes needed for the Pro to reach it's full potential.

The key I feel is if you are a PS gamer and consider yourself a PS gamer then nothing MS is doing or will be doing matters. Even if the X1X make all 3rd party games look and run better then the PS4 Pro it will not change the subject this gen or the narative. For myself, I do not consider myself a Xbox, PS, Nintendo or PC gamer. I am simply a person who loves games and have the means to own every console that feel worthy of my Money.

I will be purchasing the X1X not because I love MS or anything, it's because I enjoy playing multiple type of games using my Elite Controller. The X1X probably will rule my house since the majority of games I play are from 3rd party developers. When Sony brings out God of War or Spiderman, I will enjoy those games as well.

I got a GTX 1080TI FTW3, and a PS4 Pro. I don't own a Pro for multi-plats. I have a PC for multiplats. I have no reason to own an xbox 1x.. it's too bad that the pro isn't a more powerful device, but my PC will do anything the 1x can + more.

I also have a standard PS4.

Smart man. I decided this gen that playing all brands and their experinces was more important. You're right even on the base model PS4 the exclusives are jaw dropping.
