In my last post, I touched in a subject much in the vein of abstaining from being involved in console refreshes for this gen. Enough money was spent, but after seeing so many videos post E3 of new content revealed by developers I did a little bit of reflecting. Playstation 4 gamers are looking at a similar situation to last generation where Sony's first party is ramping up. Microsoft will have the superior multiplats for their minor few (like you with Sony) who have decided to make the upgrades. Your advantage, however, is that you will get an abundance of exclusives that make use of your 4k Checkerboard rendering. When you see the new God of War or Spiderman, these games are going to be glowing brilliantly on a 4k screen and pushing the console to its fullest. Sure, Microsoft will have some exclusives...but you will have quite a few shining examples of what it means to push even the premium platform to its limit (given you take advantage of the resolution/framerate options the base model just doesnt have). Sucker Punch still has not shown off their exclusive, but if we know Sony devs they have secrets based on trickery (That they learned from Naughty Dog) that will push the console or work their way around bottlenecks. Its not about the true 4k...because true 4k is next gen. Just like the PS3...its about having an abundance of exclusives that push the platform and for Sony its their known and trusted developers which push this truth home. I wont be able to join you, but the standard PS4 exclusives will look amazing regardless.
