Do you guys think this will finally be the year when Playstation won't have the big GOTY winner? And also finally the year when a nintendo console gets that kind of title since Resident Evil 4?

Probably this year, Ninty will most likely have the two huge games this year

Could be four if Xenoblade 2 and Splatoon 2 more than deliver. I mean if Overwatch is able to garner GOTYs while having little to no single player options, then why can't Splatoon with a new single player and added Salmon Run and Legend mode to add to an already praised multiplayer experience.

PS3 wasn't really a success, it got outsold by the Wii, lost billions of dollars, and sold 60 million less than its predecessor.

It made some short term losses, but it had the best games library of it's generation, and set Sony up for the huge success that they're enjoying with the PS4.

While 360 and Wii set nintendo up for the underwhelming response XB1 and Wii U received due to people being disappointed with the mediocre support those consoles received from MS and Nintendo.

Meh, I'd take the Wii library over PS3's library anyday.

And consoles don't succeed or fail based on their predecessors; they do so on their own terms.

This year if you look at reviews.
Persona and Horizon are great but haven't really been nearly praised as much as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Yah. The Hype of Zelda: Hype of the Wild will be hard to beat.

*ducks*

There can be a case to be made as to why Sony consoles succeed, but I don't think this is a good one. Out of that list only about 3 of them are Sony exclusive, and 1st party titles. The rest can be found on other devices.

And not all of Sony's consoles succeeded.

It's a mixture of first party and third party. Even when their first party games did not win the most GOTY awards they were still very well received. Like Demon's Souls, Bloodborne, Heavy Rain, etc.

They succeed because they are straight to the point of what most gamers want and that's a console with no gimmicks and investing a lot in new IPs and exclusives. They know that we just want to sit down with just a controller and play games.

You just mentioned why the PSVR has flopped.

I mean, people are still talking about BoTW and praising it so there's merit
