I didn't know Overwatch got more critic GOTY awards than Uncharted last year.

It didn't, neither does the OP points to that.

The link he gave says it did.

Uncharted 4 pulls ahead due to "reader votes" or something.

i had no idea OW was so loved critically.

playstation is the best platform to play games on.

Honestly I can find a bunch of different sites that list differnet GOTY's for different consoles. And some will display heavy bias toward a genre or console of choice solely because that's what the editors tend to cover there.

PlayStation consoles have no doubt had some amazing games over the years and that's one of the main reasons for their success but GotY entries on one website don't determine that at all.

GOTY awards don't determine the success or failure of a console.

They also don't determine what was the best game of the year.

This.

It's also to note that people's tastes vary as well, so other platforms out there can be more viable to others than just one system alone.

To some PC is the best platform to play games on, top others Nintendo, MS, Sony etc, the tastes and opinions all vary.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Pretty sure Overwatch won majority of the major GOTYs awards from the major review sites in 2016.

Yeah.

I mean, Sony consoles succeed because they have all the sexy "AAA" third party games, plus a lot of smaller, niche games, plus a bunch of noteworthy exclusives found nowhere else. They're consoles that are powerful enough, affordable enough, and home to a wide variety of software, both exclusive and multi-platform. That's why they're so popular. Not because of a very questionable GOTY list.

Even this year as well: http://www.pcgamer.com/overwatch-wins-game-of-the-year-at-the-2017-dice-awards/

If I want most or all of the best non-Nintendo stuff, yeah Playstation has been the obvious choice.

A warrior keeps death on the mind from the moment of their first breath to the moment of their last.

That Playstation usually has access to a few games which recieve the most GOTY votes isn't the most important takeaway.

That Playstation usually has access to a lot of different games which a lot of different people think of as their own personal GOTY is much more meaningful.  It's not the quantity of the whole or just the quality of a few, it's the quantity of quality that brings in repeat buyers.

BotW seems to be the most logically winner for GOTY this year, unless Mario Odyssey kicks it to the curve. Still, there's a game not on a PS console.
