Forums - Gaming - Assassins Creed Egypt might have something to do with revisiting a important character (possible Spoilers)

If they actually bring Desmond back and finally have a proper arching story again ACO will be the best AC ever.

Its actually the past story that is convoluted. The only thing holding the various branching bits together was desmonds story. Once again, it was sad to see  that his story had such an anticlimactic end, but Rogue revealed something that could raise him from the dead for sure. If they go back to egypt they could track it down.

No, the overarching themes they created in concert with their modern/future plot to try and tie things together is convoluted, and they have since realized that all that shit was completely pointless and unnecessary. All people wanna do in AC is go back into cool periods in time, explore them, and murder fools. Everything that takes you out of that is just in the way.

As you simplify what they are doing with every stroke of the keyboard, you do realize they are still telling you a story, correct? The story is still leading somewhere and desmonds name comes back for a reason. Youre right that they want to milk the periods of time, but you are severely understimating what Ubsisoft is doing.

True. Angelus..somehow thinks that desmonds story was convoluted. I think its more convoluted and lost now than it ever has been when it was about him.

It's literally impossible to underestimate Ubisoft

....and yet...here we are,,,in this moment...underestimating them. The Assassins Creed story has to eventually end. They were just dragging it out to milk as much sales as possible.

Were.....god you're cute. No really, how naive are you? The only way they stop dragging it out any time soon, is if the next couple of games bomb hard, and the series stops making them ridiculous amounts of cash.

Their "story" started when I was like 16.....by the time it ends, I might be in my mid 30s or so lol.....there will be absolutely no fucks given at that point

They killed Desmond because they didn't know what to do with him. I doubt that has changed since then.

They knew what to do with desmond. They knew that if they kept him around they couldnt continue to milk the game once we reached Assassins Creed 3. Ever noticed that the only modern action scenes featued desmond? As I told Angelus...they sold him to be a very big and important character, especially seeing as he has the talent and power of all three of his ancestors.

The ones that knew what to do with Desnmond were Patrice Désilets and Jade Raymond, and none of them remain at Ubisoft.

And as you say, Desmond was there to defeat the Templars, but once you have done that, then what else? There would be no point in making more AC games because the battle was over. So Desmond had to die to protect the franchise.

I liked Desmond, and I wouldn't mind if they bring him back (tho I must say that I left the franchise a while ago, and I don't intend to get back into it anytime soon), but Ubisoft has no good reason to bring him back.

I don't think it was convoluted at all. It was quite focused on his person. After that we didn't even get a proper over arching story anymore. Just a superficial front that had no relation to the past world.

As soon as they scrapped the future gameplay with desmond AC became extremely boring. Like I give a shit what happened in the past when the story in the modern times is the actual consequential one.

I agree with you. Some people say how the game must discard the modern setting completely, but AC3 and on was the biggest mistake they have had. The series made sense when it had a thread keeping it together. Since that was mostly cut, the story of the individual games has been completely pointless. Assassin's and templar's fighting for apple pieces with Assassins winning but never triumphing.

The overarch is what made AC special. So, yes, they should bring it back and get people excited about a present day game. That was always the point. ATM, they lost me completey cause its just generic sandbox games that are repetitive and the story sucks. Make an effort Ubi.

I'm not naive at all. Everyone else seems to get the point. They killed Desmond's so they could milk the story. It became evident that Desmond was going to be the one to kill the templars. Without him the modern core story became shallow and plain. Everyone here who has responded except for you seems to understand that point. Of course the animus missions were more important to gamers but the thread holding it all together was Desmond. It's the reason they keep bringing us death up in the script. Desmond was supposed to face off against the templars once and for all, fully trained in 2012 when the world was supposed to go pretty interesting circumstances. It's one of the reasons they let you fight as him in the main game.some of my friends finally got into assassins creed an are playing the franchise on their 360. They are big movie nerds. I guarantee you that when Desmond dies they are going to give up on assassins creed. The older you get the more story matters.
