I agree with you. Some people say how the game must discard the modern setting completely, but AC3 and on was the biggest mistake they have had. The series made sense when it had a thread keeping it together. Since that was mostly cut, the story of the individual games has been completely pointless. Assassin's and templar's fighting for apple pieces with Assassins winning but never triumphing.
The overarch is what made AC special. So, yes, they should bring it back and get people excited about a present day game. That was always the point. ATM, they lost me completey cause its just generic sandbox games that are repetitive and the story sucks. Make an effort Ubi.
