They knew what to do with desmond. They knew that if they kept him around they couldnt continue to milk the game once we reached Assassins Creed 3. Ever noticed that the only modern action scenes featued desmond? As I told Angelus...they sold him to be a very big and important character, especially seeing as he has the talent and power of all three of his ancestors.

The ones that knew what to do with Desnmond were Patrice Désilets and Jade Raymond, and none of them remain at Ubisoft.

And as you say, Desmond was there to defeat the Templars, but once you have done that, then what else? There would be no point in making more AC games because the battle was over. So Desmond had to die to protect the franchise.

I liked Desmond, and I wouldn't mind if they bring him back (tho I must say that I left the franchise a while ago, and I don't intend to get back into it anytime soon), but Ubisoft has no good reason to bring him back.
