So why didn't they just make Shadow of the Colossus 2?

Perfection doesn't need a sequel :D

In seriousness, a sequel would be orders of magnitude more effort. They'd need to start from scratch, and the expectations placed on it would be far higher. All a remakes requires is giving Bluepoint a bag of gold and coming back a couple of years later.

Ha that's would every one said 😁 for some reason I skipped this back in the day, maybe I'll check out this version.

Ocarina of time was perfection back In 98, but since then we have 6 amazing sequels, 2 of which almost surpassed the original and 1 which has.

It is one of my favorite games. That said i think the game and bosses look too clean. Some of their emotion is lost with these new assets. The PS3 remaster is the way to play it i think. There is still time for them to fix it.

I don't know what some people are against a sequel for a good game. A sequel should be fairly easy for them to tie into the original game because of it's ending. I think they are just testing the waters with the remake. If it does well, we'll likely see a sequel.

Wasn't that already confirmed even looking at the trailer that it won't be just a small resolution upgrade?

The trailer looked extremely impressive.

Yeah, it looked soooo good that I thought this was Shadow 2... looks to be completely build from the ground up (visually).

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Yeah. I never thought for a second it was a remaster.

Perfection doesn't need a remake!

I think it's rather pointless to remake a masterpiece like SotC, a remaster would be better

Not to be that guy, but if the content of the game is basically the same as the PS2 version, and only assets are what's being modified, isn't this basically a remaster, not a remake?

Seriously.  SOTC is a great tech demo and open world prototype.  It is filled with emptiness, which in 2006 was excusable and acceptable. Today it's a recipe for boredom.  Outside of the collosi there are no enemies, NPCs, or any items to interact with.  Even Ico had more to do and is actually a much better game.  I'm sure this is the right move, though, as many gamers just want shinier graphics and aren't that concerned with gameplay.

They're playing with words here. It is a remake when it comes to the graphics, but everything else seems to fall in line with a remaster.

In any case, I hope the game ends up being very smooth and crisp, with a 4K mode.
