Yeah, you exclude Linux, Mac, BSD, Android...

Eh? So if I buy a game like Monkey island on steam how does that benefit Microsoft?
That's the thing though. If someone buys a game on PC, they may play it on a Microsoft platform, but Microsoft doesn't make any profits from that unless they publish it or they sell it in their online store.
You could even say Microsofts platforms are in competition to each other, because Win10 will take away sales from the Xbox division.
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

Plus the combo of console + high end PC is rare. I know 30+ gamers. The only one who has a console + gaming compere is ME. And I don't even game on it. |
Ancedotal. Not applicable to everyone.
I know a dozen or so high-end PC gamers in real life.

And not everyone has a console.

And they will all come to PC whether Sony likes it or not, eventually.

If its first party, they get money. If its third party and I buy it on Steam, they get nothing. So, they won't see money from Cuphead (Steam) and they will have to split profits of State of Decay and Ori 2 with Steam. I assume the others are Windows Store Exclusive. However, if they can't convince me to buy their console, they lose out on all the money I would be spending on non-exclusive titles (and the increased likelihood of me buying exclusive titles). That is more what I was trying to say. |
I understand.
By this logic, if it is on XBOX and PC, it is a PC exclusive. No.

Don't think Digimon is on vita this year |
Next order is on Vita and Hackers Memory also coming to Vita. They are developed on Vita and ported to PS4.
If it's on more than one platform then it's not exclusive.
It's "console exclusive" and "MS exclusive". To be totally exclusive it must be on just one platform. Anyhow it's clear that being console exclusive and MS exclusive is more than just console exclusive for MS if we consider its overall corporate purposes and not just its XB division's ones. But it's still less than total exclusive if we consider profits and XB division purposes, as PC version sales will bring neither royalties nor console HW sales.
