Forums - Nintendo - I was wrong about waiting till E3 for Switch third party

People here calling others delusional for saying Nintendo needs 3rd party, YOU are delusional. Nintendo wants and needs 3rd party games. Maybe they don't need games like COD or FIFA or Anthem but they do need exclusives or popular Japanese games. Even Microsoft and Sony work harder to get 3rd party exclusives (Bloodborne, Nier, Nioh, Ni no Kuni, Yakuza, Persona) while they are guaranteed to get multiplatform games. When Nintendo gets a third party exclusive for once that doesn't feature their own characters they don't even do any marketing on it.

I'm done with this bullshit from Nintendo. I need a steady flow of many different games. That's why I bought a PS4.

I called it. This will be an underwhelming e3 for Nintendo. Their presentation will be about Odyssey. And that will be it.

I don't think anyone realistically thought we'd see a lot of 3rd party enthusiasm for the Switch, at E3 or otherwise. And they don't really need it as much as many harp on about. The gain from getting more 3rd party support is likely a lot smaller than the harm from not having it, when all is said and done.

I thought there would be a few 3rd party multiplat announcements, but most so far have only given a few new details on their Switch ports. Don't worry though, Nintendo pulled through, this was the first E3 where I've wanted to get every game they've announced.

What's really happening is that people look very selectively at third party support, so highly rated exclusive third party games tend to get ignored altogether. You aren't any better by saying that Switch will get some Japanese games. In reality it will get a lot and many of them will be exclusive, just like on the DS and 3DS. But because Sony got utterly defeated in the handheld market, VGC has created a reality distortion field where handhelds do not exist. This is why sales predictions for Switch were so damn bad.

My intent was not to diminish the quality of Japanese games - but in the grand scheme of things those 3rd party Japanese games will not be among the top 10 selling Switch games.  The DS/3DS supports that - the top 10 selling DS and 3DS games were all Nintendo games, weren't they?

Nintendo makes first party systems.  People can accept that and still make sales predictions for the Switch that are good.

outside of Monster Hunter I dont think any Japanese 3rd party exclusive was putting up crazy numbers

The solution for switch is on the rainway app.
Cheaper games and all pc library, anywhere in your house. Okay, on the go you is limited to nintendo games.
But seems okay for me.
