Expected. Any higher and few people will buy it. Any lower and Microsoft would be taking a pretty good loss on the product and Microsoft doesnt like to take losses.

Unfortunently for them, that means less SW sales in the long run, which is where the money comes from. This E3 is looking to be a disappointment more and more everyday, but I am holding out till the conference actually announces a price and games.

A console does not sell itself (at mid gen), which is why the scorpio marketing was bull to be honest. If Microsoft comes with the games many people (of course whom already own Xboxes) will repurchase Scorpios regardless. Its just going to be tough to convince new gamers who waited for a price cut to buy a Scorpio. You're doing the wise thing in waiting. Good man.

Very expensive niche console. Not worth it.

It was bound to be somewhere between $400-$500.

499 is not between 400 - 500

You should go back to school and retake some math lessons.

Possible Conspiracy theory: They are saying this price now to see how people react to this on the internet. And if it is bad, they will quickly change the announcement price and make them lool like caring for customers lol

With the S model dropping to $200, this seems like a lot. $500 is 150% more than $200, or 2.5 times the price.

Cheapest new Xbox One S is still 249$ right? right now its not 200$.

It would be double the price of the Xbox One S currently.

Actually the price cut should be effective today. Still, even if it was $250, double the price is still bad. Of course it seems much better because at least to me, the difference between 'double the price' and 'more than double the price' is significant.

EDIT: Scrap that. I just read the comment section of that news article again, and the cheapest price isn't $200. Only some (more expensive) bundles get a $50 cut, so the cheapest price should still be $250.

499 is not between 400 - 500, its 500.

Technically 'between' is an ambiguous statement. It could include both ends of the range, only one of them, or neither of them. Also, technically 499 is between 400 and 500, regardless of whether 500 itself is included.

Is there that much a difference between 499 and 500 ? I dont think so.

Anyway suck for MS if true.

i will buy 499 Scorpio day1.

But if its 500 thats no buy at all. 2much plain and simple.

$399 - Xbox 360 20GB HD - back in 2005 is $499 today in the USA.

The "core" 360 was 299, which today is $375.

Can't wait for Phil Spencer to explain inflation at the conference.

"You might say it's a bit expensive. And you would be wrong. I HAVE SPREADSHEETS TO PROVE IT!"

Makes no sense for them to actually drop the price of the Xbox one S tomorrow *Today (11th), it surely devalues the Scorpio at this price. They should have bundled 3 games with it instead, to add value to both, not take it away.

Today. It was for the 11th, its already in effect.

Xbox One S for 249$.

Sure, in practice the difference is meaningless, which leads me to think 500 should be included in the 'between' statement. But the first part still applies. 'Between' is an ambiguous statement. In math, 'between 400 and 500' could be either ]400, 500[, [400, 500[, ]400, 500], or [400, 500], and all of them mean slightly different things.
