Forums - Gaming Discussion - Atari Box: New Console From Atari (RUMORED to be a Modern Console)

Strange, the Ataribox website has mail shortcuts for press people, people wanting to join or people interested in developping for whatever it is.

Yeah, that's what has many believing it's a modern console. Unless we have a coleco Chameleon type thing going on where developers create new 8 and 16 bit content for it. Shouldn't be too much longer before we know what the heck it is.

It seems like its a throwback console(a la NES mini), unless there is something else they plan to announce.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Would be interesting, but I don't really see this doing well if it actually is real

You might want to look at the trailer again. The Ataribox and Atari Flashback are completely different concepts. The Atari Box has USB slots on the front, top is flat asides from what might be air flow vents. Also there has been some reports that it's a "modern console" that has nothing to do with vintage or classic games. Though nothing has been said on it's specs or capabilities.

It might be coincidental but the Atari logo in the new Blade Runner movie could be product placement as it uses the same Atari logo as the Ataribox which is white-light with square cuts in it.

Is it a new console? How will Atari compete with the 3 giants? What can they offer that is new and convincing enough to take a piece of the market share? Your guess is as good as mine...

I'd rather see Sega make their triumphant return personally.

Say what you want, but the design is much better than the ugly (imo) PS4 and Xbox One.

It does look pretty sleek. Ticks the aesthetic box for me (no pun intended). Curious to see what sort of content it gets.
